TERMS OF COMPETITION

BY FILING OF THIS ENTRY YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE TERMS OF COMPETITION AS SET FORTH BELOW

 

ELIGIBILITY

Entries are open to senior amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association.  This entry must be certified by an association or club authorized to issue a USGA GHIN Handicap.  The USGA GHIN Handicap Index must be current and up-to-date.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.  Entrants must be 50 years of age on or before August 24, 2020.  Field will be limited to a number determined by the Championship Committee.  The Championship Committee reserves the right to issue special invitations.

 

SCHEDULE

CHAMPIONSHIP:  36 holes at stroke play.

     TUESDAY, AUGUST 24

                  First Round, 18 Holes.

     WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25

                  Second Round, 18 Holes

Lowest scorer for 36 Holes will be the Champion.  Any tie(s) for the overall champion will be decided immediately by a sudden death, hole-by-hole play-off.  For all other ties within a specific age group, see Appendix I of the USGA Rules of Golf, How to Decide Ties, Paragraph (c).

 

FLIGHTS

There will be a scratch Championship Flight played from a longer set of tees.  Players must declare for the Championship Flight on the entry form.  All other flights (flights within age groups) there will be gross and net winners; those age groups are: 50-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74 and 75 and above.  If you elect to play in the Championship Flight, you will not be eligible for the Age Division prizes.  Flights may be altered due to number of competitors.     

 

LUNCHEON BUFFET

Complimentary Luncheon for all Competitors on Wednesday, August 25 at Sunset CC.

 

PRIZES

For the Scratch Championship Flight:

Winner:  George F. Meyer Trophy for a period of one (1) year; Gold Medal

Runner-Up:  Silver Medal

 

All other Flights: Appropriate award for Gross and Net Winners.

NO OTHER REMUNERATION: By this application, an entrant certifies that he is not entitled to remuneration of any kind for participation in this Championship other than the aforementioned prizes.

 

ENTRIES:  Form, Fee, Closing Date

Entrant shall apply on the attached form.  Copies are acceptable.

 

$160.00 entry fee shall be paid by every applicant.  Entrant may file only one (1) entry.  Entry fee will be refunded regardless of the reason if the Metropolitan Office is notified prior to the close of entries August 11, 2021.  After the close of entries, entry fee will be refunded only after written proof to the Championship Committee of injury or illness and such written request for refund is made prior to August 18, 2021.  No refunds for any reason if written request is made on or after August 18, 2021.

 

Entry Application and fees must reach the Association’s Office at the address listed on the entry form by 5:00 p.m., August 11, 2021. (Entries by telephone, telegraph or fax are not acceptable.)

 

Entry fee includes a practice round, the Championship rounds (including carts) and the luncheon buffet on August 25.

 

REGISTRATION AT SUNSET COUNTRY CLUB

All players must be ready to play at their appropriate starting point and published starting time.

 

PRACTICE PRIVILEGES

Practice privileges (one practice round) at Sunset CC are extended to players in the Championship, after the close of entries, at a time not disruptive to their member play.  Information on practice privileges will be sent to players after the close of entries. 

 

CADDIES; AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION

A player may provide his own caddie at any time during the Championship, provided the caddie is not a participant in the Championship, or a player may carry his own clubs.  Players may use automotive transportation and is included in entry fee. 

 

FOOTWEAR

Sunset CC is a spikeless facility.  Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes, comprised either partially or entirely of metal, are prohibitedPenalty for breach of this Condition:  DISQUALIFICATION

RULES OF GOLF

Play will be governed by the United States Golf Association Rules of Golf.  Questions shall be settled by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final.

 

CONDITIONS, SCHEDULES

The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.  The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.

 

GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS

Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Balls may be used.  (List is available at www.usga.org).  Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.  Model Local Rule G-3. 

 

Only Driver Heads on the most current USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads may be used.  (List is available at www.usga.org).  Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.  Model Local Rule G-1.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

During all phases of the Championship, Competitors must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming.  The Championship Committee shall decide whether this requirement has been met and has authority to withdraw the entry of a Competitor who does not comply. 

 

NOTICE CONCERNING AMATEUR STATUS

Participation in this event is conditioned on Amateur Status.  The USGA Rules of Amateur Status shall apply.  The Championship Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant for not having Amateur Status.  Disqualifying events include (i) competing for cash prizes in any amount and (ii) competing for merchandise prizes exceeding $750 in retail value.
