Welcome to the "Course Rating Application" Event Portal

Request Process

Requests for course ratings will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. When submitting your application, please select the quarter of the year in which you would like the rating to be completed. Scheduling is subject to the availability of rating teams in your area. While some backlog is normal, every effort will be made to complete course ratings in a timely manner.

Requirements for USGA Rating Standards

To meet USGA rating standards:

  • Permanent Tee Markers: Permanent markers must be in place at each tee.
  • Distance Measurements: Distances must be measured using approved methods, such as surveying equipment, electronic measuring devices, or steel tape/chain. Accurate airline measurements, as stipulated by the USGA, are critical. Measurements by wheel are not acceptable.

Application Fees and Club Responsibilities

Applications must be submitted with the appropriate fee at the time of submission. Additionally, the club or course submitting the application must provide the following:

  • Preliminary Course Rating Data: This includes specific information requested during the application process.
  • Golf Carts and Playing Privileges: Complimentary golf carts and access to the course for the rating team must be provided. Note that raters may not play the course on the day of the rating.

The club’s golf professional and/or greens superintendent must be available to provide additional local information to the rating team as needed.

After Application Submission

Upon submission of the Online Course Rating Application and the fee has been paid, if necessary, you will receive an email containing two attachments:

  1. Tee Information Request: This document asks for the hole-by-hole yardages and par for all tees to be rated.
  2. Green Measurements Document: This document requires the dimensions of each green in yards (width and depth).

Post-Review

Once the Review Committee confirms the rating, your club will receive:

  • An official USGA Course/Slope Rating Certificate.
  • A Handicap Stroke Allocation report with recommendations based on the course rating data.
