Scroll down for League Guidelines for Tee Times, Scoring, Handicap, Prizes and Payouts

All Lady 9ers members are expected to follow the established USGA Rules of Golf to the best of her ability during play in the league. Golf is, after all, a game of integrity and it is that integrity that makes our league fair and fun for everyone. It is every golfer’s responsibility to ensure all golfers follow the rules. Any rules question should be directed to the league President or the Pro Staff.

TEE TIMES

Scheduling tee times: League members can schedule tee times beginning at 6:00pm, 8 days prior to the day of play through Golf Genius. (i.e. 6pm Tuesday for the Wednesday of the week following). You may schedule a tee time for yourself and 3 other league members.

GOLF GENIUS: Make sure you download the Golf Genius app for iPhoneiPadAndroid or Windows Phone. Golf Genius allows us to keep all our league information in one place. You will sign up for tee times, keep track of scores and view weekly results through Golf Genius. You can use the app, or view the Golf Genius Member Portal through your desktop.

SIGN UP FOR ROUNDS: Players are required to sign up through Golf Genius in advance for weekly tee times. The online sign up window is Tuesday 6pm - Saturday 6pm the week before league play. To sign up after Saturday at 6pm, you must call the Pro Shop directly. You will be given a time based on availability. You can sign up yourself and up to 3 other players for each round of league play!

There are 2 ways to sign up for league rounds:

Golf Genius Email Reminder: You will receive a Golf Genius email reminder each week asking if you are "Playing" or "Not Playing". Click the link that you are playing AND sign up for your tee times. Clicking the "you are playing" link does not automatically sign you up, you must continue through to actually select a tee time.

Important: The action of selecting Playing or Not Playing records your intentions; not your tee time.

Manual Login: At 6pm on the Tuesday before play, the portal opens for tee times. On the desktop: Login to Golf Genius and go to Tee Sheets ⇢ Open Tee Time Reservations. Click "select" next to the time you want then click "done. On the app: Go to Member Portal ⇢ Tee Sheets ⇢ Open Tee Time Registration. Select a time slot and hit done when complete.

CANCELLATIONS: Use Golf Genius to cancel within the Tue-Sat window. If you must cancel after the 6pm deadline on Saturday, please call the Pro Shop right away so we can accommodate other players if needed.

WEATHER: The staff at Red Hawk will determine if the course is unplayable due to the weather. If the course is open, play will continue regardless of cold, mist or wind. Those unsure if they want to play should go to Red Hawk to observe the conditions in person rather than calling the Pro Shop, and then cancel their reservation if they decide not to play. Red Hawk does not have a severe weather siren/horn for lightning, etc. A player on the course should use her own discretion in deciding to continue play. Rain checks, prorated on the basis of the number of holes played, will be issued at the Pro Shop.

CHANGING LEAGUE TIMES: The staff at Red Hawk tries to keep our league playing times consistent; however, leagues will be “bumped” on occasion when there’s an outside tournament scheduled. Every effort will be made to maintain the scheduled day, even if the times must be changed. Members are asked to be flexible and understanding.

SCORING

Please read carefully!! GOLF IS A GAME OF INTEGRITY!! To uphold this integrity, please be certain that you turn in accurate scores.

TEE BOXES: All players will play from the Red Tees.

SCORECARDS: 2 paper scorecards and 1 digital scorecard through Golf Genius are to be turned in each week.

PAPER SCORECARD PROCEDURE: Each group will complete 2 paper scorecards that includes all 4 players in the group. Please write your names in the order that is displayed in Golf Genius. Track total strokes and putts for each hole. Verify cards with all players in the group, have all players sign and date both cards and put the cards in the drawer under the GHIN computer.

Scorecard procedure and accuracy is crucial for play day prizes and your group may be disqualified if not completed correctly.

EXAMPLE PAPER SCORECARD:

ELECTRONIC SCORECARD THROUGH GOLF GENIUS: One person in each group MUST track scores in Golf Genius. Simply sign in to Golf Genius and click "Enter Scores". Enter each players score then click "Save Scores". You will then be directed to the next hole. You can also edit at anytime during the round to correct mistakes. If a player does not finish a hole, enter X or click "X +10". Verify the Golf Genius scores with the scorecards at the end of the round and make any necessary adjustments.

Only scores entered into Golf Genius will qualify for prizes!

POSTING SCORES: Scores will be automatically posted to GHIN each week once reviewed and verified by the league coordinator.

Please DO NOT post Wednesday night league scores from May 1 - Sept 30 in GHIN.

CHIP-INS: Please record your chip-ins for each round on your scorecard. The league will award prizes to players for their chip-ins at the end of the season.

CAN I PICK UP?: Yes. A player may decide to pick up their ball on any hole. Write "10X" on the scorecard for the hole(s) and enter "X" into the digital scorecard in Golf Genius. If you choose to pick up on any hole, you will be disqualified from winning prizes for that playday Scores will be adjusted using equitable stroke control and all posted rounds will count toward participation credit.

HANDICAPS

  • After a member’s GHIN number has been activated, every round she plays, whether at Red Hawk or any other course played must have a true score posted in the computer so an accurate Handicap Index can be determined.
  • Consistently posting both good and bad scores is all a part of the “integrity” of golf.
  • In essence, each player will have two handicaps – one is the Handicap Index, which is a calculated number stating that player’s potential playing ability on a course of average playing difficulty. The other is the Course Handicap that adjusts the golfer’s handicap to the relative difficulty of a specific course from a specific set of tees.
  • When posting scores to GHIN outside of league play, post your actual score (hole by hole). The new World Handicap System will automatically adjust your score based on Net Double Bogey plus any handicap strokes you received.
  • Three (3) 18-hole rounds or Six (6) 9-hole rounds are required to establish your first Handicap Index. Once a handicap is established, it is carried over each year. For questions or clarification, call the League Coordinator or ask someone in the Pro Shop for help.
  • You can always check www.GHIN.com to find your Handicap Index. Flights and Tees:
  • All members will play from the Red Tees.
  • Flights will be determined by the golfer’s handicap.

PRIZES AND PAYOUTS

All players will play from the Red Tees

WEEKLY PRIZES: To be eligible for any weekly prize, a player must have an established Handicap Index at Red Hawk. The number of prizes throughout the year and the prize amount will be determined by the number of participants in the league and in each flight. Generally, 30-35% of total participants as recommended by CGA, will win a weekly prize. Prize structure will be consistent throughout the season.

FLIGHTS: Flights are based upon handicap index and number of participants each week. Players will be assigned into flights of 10 with a maximum of 16 players in a flight depending on how many sign up to play. You could change flights each week depending on where your handicap falls in the list of players for the week.

POINTS: Points will be awarded to the top finishers in each flight depending on number of players. Points will be converted to Pro Shop credit ($2/point) after four playable days of league play. Generally 30% of eligible participants, as recommended by CGA, will win weekly prizes. A minimum of 3 players per flight must play for points to be awarded.

Prizes will be awarded for each flight for:

Game of the Day - 5 points ($10)

Low Net - 4 points ($8)

Fewest Putts - 3 points ($6)

*If the number of golfers playing per flight warrants it, prizes will be expanded to include:

Low Gross - 2 points ($4)

2nd Low Net - 1 point ($2)

***An individual cannot win in more than one category. The players best finish will be awarded****

RESULTS AND WINNERS: The league coordinators will calculate the weekly winners. When all scores are entered, the results will be posted on the Golf Genius portal and included in the weekly 9ers newlsetter. Payouts will be deposited into the players Pro Shop account after 4 playable league days.

All money won will be placed in a member’s personal account at the RHR pro shop after four play dates. This amount can be used for merchandise in the Pro Shop, range balls, and for golf outside of League Play, Monday through Thursday, at regular course rates. Members MUST spend the money from their accounts before December 31, 2022 or the money WILL BE FORFEITED. RHRLGC members have the benefit of a 10% discount on non-sale merchandise at the Pro Shop. It’s a member’s responsibility to inform the person behind the desk of her RHRLGC membership.

TIES: Ties will not be broken but awarded similar points. For example, if 3 people tie for 2nd, ALL receive 4 points for that week.

YEAR END PRIZES: The board will determine end of the year prizes which may include payouts for birdies, chip-ins, low gross/low net rounds, ringer, etc. To be eligible for some of the end of the season prizes league members will have to have played in at least 1/2 of the weekly play days.

SPEED OF PLAY

Speed of play is a real concern! This is an issue not only for the efficient operation of the course itself, but also to participating members. It is not dependent on a player’s handicap. Players are asked to make every effort to speed play along. It is imperative that each group keeps up with the group ahead of them!

  • 9-hole round should be completed in under 2 ¼ hours. NOTE: a golfer should spend no more than 20 seconds from the time she chooses a club to when she actually strikes her ball.
  • Please play Ready golf.
  • If speed of play becomes a problem, a sequence of actions may be initiated.
    • If a particular group is being slow, a member in one of the trailing groups should call the Pro Shop to request one of the Red Hawk staff be sent to encourage the group to move along more quickly.
    • Should the same individual or group cause the problem in subsequent weeks, the RHRLGC Lady 9ers Board will send an email to the offender(s).
    • In the event that the problem isn’t rectified, the Board will send a warning to the offender(s).
    • The RHRLGC Lady 9ers Board reserves the right to revoke any player’s membership.

This plan was established in an effort to make golf more enjoyable for everyone.

CLINICS AND MENTORING

Clinics and Lessons: To help improve play at all levels, Instructional Clinics will be offered by the RHR pro staff, but only if league members request them. Clinics will only be held if at least 4 members have signed up and paid for that lesson. Lesson cost to be determined by the instructor. A league member interested in initiating the process should contact the League President or League Coordinator. For individual or small group lessons, contact any of the pros in the Pro Shop at (720) 733-3501.
