Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership:  Be a member of the BDGA, defined as either belonging to (1) an BDGA member club or (2) the NYSGA eClub of Western New York (Residency Required)
  • Age: To compete in the Senior Division, both members of the team must be at least 50 years old as of May 10, 2021. Otherwise, there are no age requirements.
  • USGA Handicap Index: To compete in the Net Division, both members of the team must have a USGA Handicap Index of at least 10. Otherwise, there are no Handicap Index requirements.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry with full payment must be submitted online prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $200 per team. This includes one round of golf, cart, dinner, prizes, and awards.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (5PM EST on Tuesday, May 4, 2021). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $10 service fee, will be refunded if a player withdraws prior to the close of entries. No refunds are given after this time.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

The field is limited to the first 50 teams to apply. After the field limit is reached, teams will be placed on a wait list in order by their time of registration.

 

DIVISIONS AND TEES

There are three divisions in this event which will play from the tees listed below:

  • Open Division (all ages) - Blue Tees
  • Senior Division (ages 50+) - White Tees
  • B Division (Handicap Index of 10+) - White Tees

 

FORMAT: TWO-MAN SCRAMBLE

The format of this championship is two-man scramble (also known as captain and mate). Instructions for the ball to be played is outlined below:

  • General Area: When the ball is in the general area (not in a penalty area, bunker or on a putting green), the ball may be lifted, cleaned and placed within one club-length of its original position, no closer to the hole. A ball may not be moved from a spot in the general area (fringe/rough) onto a green.
  • Putting Green: When a ball is on a putting green, both players must putt from that spot.
  • Penalty Areas and Bunkers: If a ball is in a bunker or penalty area, the ball must be played as it lies. The second ball must be dropped from knee height as near as possible to the spot of the first ball. The ball cannot be placed in a bunker or penalty area.  
  • Unmarked Areas: Any unmarked areas are considered in the general area.

 

TIES

If there is a tie for Open/Senior Division winner a sudden-death playoff will be used to determine the winner. In the case of darkness, ties will broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards. If there is a tie for the Net Division winners, the USGA method of matching scorecards will be used to determine the winner.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

10:15am - 11:40am................Contestant registration and driving range is open

11:40am - 11:50am................Announcements

12:00pm....................................Shotgun

4:30pm......................Player dinner and awards

 

AWARDS AND PRIZES

Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Gift certificates will be awarded to the winners of each division. Ties for any places will be broken by the USGA method of matching scorecards, except for the winners as outlined above.

 

REGISTRATION

At least one member of a team must check-in at registration located beneath the BDGA tent to confirm their hole assignment and receive any special notices.

 

PLAYER DINNER

There is a dinner included in the entry fee, which will begin immediately following the conclusion of play in the Niagara Frontier clubhouse.

 

CART AND DRIVING RANGE

The use of carts and the driving range is included in the entry fee.
