RBC PGA SCRAMBLE - RULES SHEET

Competitors will play the yardages as follows:

MALE competitors (ALL AGES) will play from the BLUE club tees. All FEMALE competitors will play from the GOLD club tees.

Rules of Golf - The Golf Canada Rules of Golf will govern all competition, except for those specialized Scramble Rules in place for the RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company. COVID-19 protocols are subject to change based on provincial government and health authority requirements.

RBC PGA Scramble Format This event will be operated under the standard Scramble Format. All team members may play from the teeing ground of each hole. The team then chooses the shot that gives them the best chance for the next shot and all players play the next stroke from that spot. This process continues until the ball is on the green. For all Local Qualifiers, the “make it or rake it” rule applies, meaning that each competitor will attempt the first putt if it is not made, the next putt is conceded for a maximum of two putts per hole.

Physical Distance – Every competitor must observe physical distancing requirements (2m or more) at all times and must not touch or use anything that belongs to another competitor (this includes golf balls and items used to mark a ball’s location).

Flagsticks – The flagstick is to remain in the hole at all times and must not be touched. The ball must come to rest within the hole to be considered holed.

Three Tee Shots – A minimum of three (3) tee shots per team member must be used per eighteen (18) hole round.

Selected Shot - If the selected shot is in the general area (anywhere on the course, except any penalty area, bunker, teeing area or putting green of the hole being played) the ball must be placed within one (1) club length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole, and must remain in the general area. If the selected ball is in a penalty area the next shot must be played from the penalty area, or from outside the penalty area per the applicable Rule under penalty of one stroke (unless additional penalties apply). If the selected ball is in a bunker the next shot must be played from the bunker, or from outside the bunker per the applicable Rule under penalty of one stroke (unless additional penalties apply). A ball that is not on the putting green of the hole being played, may not be placed on the putting green, even if it is within one club length of the marked ball.

In a bunker, the sand may be smoothed (with a foot or club) before any ball being placed, as rakes will not be available on the course.

On the putting green, each ball must be placed within one putter head of the marked position and played from there.

Scorecard – Scoring will be done electronically in 2021. Each team captain will be required to download the Golf Genius App and will be provided with the GGID to log in before the start of the competition. Before the competition, each team must verify that their Handicap Indexes are correct as of the entry closing date. During the round, the team captain should post scores upon completion of each hole. At the end of the round, when each hole score has been posted, the team captain will receive an email confirming the scores. Please respond promptly to that email to confirm that the scores are correct and that will end the scoring process. As per the World Handicap System, the team’s Playing Handicap will consist of 25% of the lowest player’s Course Handicap, 20% of the second-lowest, 15% of the third-lowest and 10% of the highest player’s Course Handicap. This Playing Handicap will be subtracted from the gross score for the net score. Signing for an incorrect score or handicap will lead to automatic disqualification from the event under Rule 3.3.
