Gale Gregson Hanna was a towering figure in Rhode Island’s golf community. She was
an accomplished player, an advocate for the game and a dedicated volunteer. Her life in
golf began when she was young. Her mother was a founder of Rhode Island’s Girls’
Junior Golf Program. Gale took to the game and excelled at it, winning golf
championships on the state level.

Hanna was president of the Rhode Island Women’s Golf Association from 2011-12 and
was instrumental in its merger with the Rhode Island Golf Association. She was also a
Board Member of the RIGA and served on the Board of the New England Women’s Golf
Association from 2010-12. In addition to her athletic accomplishments in the game and
her leadership in advocating for golf, Hanna was fundamentally a hard-working
volunteer.

Hanna died in Sept. of 2020. In Gale’s memory and to ensure her legacy continues for
future generations, we have created the Gale Gregson Hanna Girls’ Junior Scholarship.
To help support this scholarship, we will be hosting an annual golf
tournament. For the 2021 season, it will be held at Agawam Hunt on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

A portion of the entry fee ($35pp) will go directly to the scholarship fund and will be tax
deductible.
