2021 Father Son Modified Scotch Tournament

Entry Fee: $225 per team

Entries Open: 05/11/2021 at 10:00am

Entries Close: 07/06/2021 at 5:00pm

 

Eligibility: Entries open to any amateur Father and Son teams who both have an active Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index. Entries will be on a first come, first served basis. Sons who are 19 or older as of July 6, 2021. who both have an active Mass Golf/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding a combined 12.0 (as determined by the July 6, 2021 Handicap Revision).

 

Format: 18 Holes Stroke Play. The format will be a modified scotch (Selected Drive Alternate Shot). Each team member will hit a tee shot after which the better of the two balls will be played into the hole in alternate shot format. Please remember that penalty shots DO NOT affect the order of play. For example: Player A hits his ball into a penalty area. Player B would drop a ball as prescribed under 17.1d and play the next shot.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. The official scorecard will be the mobile golf genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome.

 

Approximate Yardage: Play for Fathers & Son will be from the BLACK MASS GOLF tees (approx. 6,600 yards).

 

Entry Procedures: Entries and fully paid entry fees must be received through the Mass Golf Online Entry process by 5:00pm EST on the published entry deadline.

 

Field: Entries will be on a first come, first served basis. After the field is full a waitlist will automatically start. 

 

Caddies & Automotive TransportationCart fee is included in entry fee. Caddies and pull carts (at the host club(s) discretion) are permitted.

 

Starting Time: Tee times will begin at 8:00 AM off of the 1st tee.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.

 

Playoff: In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a hole-by-hole sudden death playoff on a hole designated by the Committee to determine the Champion team. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method.

 

Prizes: We will be awarding pro shop credit to the top six finishing teams.

 

Practice Rounds: Practice rounds are not available.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you and within the time par printed on your scorecard.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Championship Policies & Procedures.

 

Food & Beverage: Mass Golf will be providing a complimentary lunch for all competitors at the halfway house located by the 1st tee and 18th green. The staff inside will have each player's name listed and allow them to make their selection of lunch from a vairety of sandwiches, hotdogs and burgers. The halfway house will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM. Breakfast sandwiches and bagels will be available for purchase in the morning. Water will be available on the golf course throughout the round.

 

Bathrooms: Located inside the clubhouse and on the course. On course bathrooms are located at the turn, 5 tee and 14 green.

 

Withdrawal & Refund Policy: Competitors who have submitted an entry for a Mass Golf event and wish to withdraw for any reason, MUST notify the Mass Golf office (email preferred). Entry fee will be refunded less a $20 administrative fee, regardless of reason, if Mass Golf is notified seven (7) days prior to the event. Entry fee will be refunded less 50% for any withdrawals received less than seven (7) days prior to the event. No refund will be processed for a withdrawal notification that is received on the scheduled date of an event
