Player Information Sheet & Local Rules

 

History of the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball Tournament: This tournament honors the memory of Dolly Sullivan, a long-time supporter of women’s golf and the niece of Francis Ouimet. This annual fundraising tournament and its proceeds benefit the WGAM Jr. Scholarship Fund, Inc., and the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund/Dolly Sullivan Fund. The tournament was first held at The Country Club of Halifax in 1982 and has been an annual tournament run for women in Massachusetts since 1994. Last year’s 2020 overall winner was Thorny Lea Golf Club’s Team.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

Format: 18 Hole event. Team stroke play, best ball of four. Each team player plays their own ball. The low gross and net score for the team is recorded for each hole. 

                 

Shotgun Times:

For the 8:00 AM shotgun, golfers to be ready at their carts by 7:45 AM.

For the 2:00 PM shotgun, golfers to be ready at their carts by 1:45 PM.    

The Rescheduled Round will be an 8:30 AM shotgun. golfers to be ready at their carts by 8:15 AM.                 

 

Handicaps: 75% Playing Handicap as of August 3rd, 2021.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided but will be considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile golf genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the app. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome.

 

Enter Gross scores only in the app. Net will be calculated by the app. After all player’s gross scores are entered for a hole, click “Save Scores”. Only one person from the foursome is responsible for inputting scores in the app. You can toggle back and forth from the score input page to the leaderboard near the top of the phone app screen. The designated scorekeeper in the group is responsible for checking hole by hole gross scores at the scoring area with a Mass Golf representative. Mass Golf will not be posting scores to GHIN.

                    

Tees: Mass Golf Red Tees from approximately 5,327 yards.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.

 

Practice Areas: There is a large practice green located in front of the golf shop. The practice range is located behind the tennis courts. Golf carts are not available to take to the range but the cart staging area is right next to the tennis courts so it is extremely close. There is a very nice short game area right next to the tennis carts and cart staging area as well that players can utilize.

Hole #1: middle of fairway (creek), behind green                                               

Hole #2: right side of tee (creek), left side of fairway (pond)

Hole #3: right of tee to where fairway starts and left of green (pond)

Hole #5: middle of fairway (creek)       

Hole #6: right of tee and small creek left side of cart path (70 yards from center of green)

Hole #7: front left of green, behind green                                   

Hole #8: pond on right side, up to and along creek, across fairway before green (creek)   

Hole #9: left and right side of fairway (left pond and right side woods), middle of fairway (creek)                        

Hole #10: left side of fairway (creek), right side of fairway (creek) and behind green

Hole #11: right side starting at transition from out of bounds (about 220 yards from green), left side area of fairway (pond), right side before and behind green, middle of fairway (creek)

Hole #12: left side of fairway (pond), middle of fairway (creek)

Hole #13: in front and left of tees (creek)

Hole #14: left side near green (pond), right and behind the green    

Hole #15: left of tee (pond) and entire right side (woods), left of fairway (small creek bed)

Hole #16: entire right side (pond)

Hole #17: right side until just after the creek, middle of fairway (creek)

Hole #18: middle of fairway (creek), right side (pond)

 

Out of Bounds (painted/staked):

Hole #5: left side of hole and behind green

Hole #11: right side of fairway from tee to transition to penalty area, about 220 yards from the green

Hole #17: tennis courts, parking lot and entry road (defined by pavement/fence), left and right side after creek and

     green patio area (defined by wood patio planks)

 

Power Lines on Hole #17: If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hits the power line during the play of Hole #17, the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (Local Rule E-11) This local rules does not apply to the power line posts.

 

Ground Under Repair:

Areas enclosed with white painted lines are considered ground under repair. Relief may be taken. Also, all flower beds are considered ground under repair. Any construction or wood chipping, downed trees are considered ground under repair.

 

Immovable Obstructions: All cart paths (paved or unpaved), roads (paved or unpaved), their immediate extensions/adjacent worn areas and white lined areas tying into cart paths. Relief may be taken.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you maintain a pace within a hole of the group in front of you.

 

Bathrooms: Two very small facilities located outside the golf shop next to the putting green. Larger facilities are located inside the clubhouse and dining room and located on the course on Holes 3 and 4. Holes 9,13 and 18 come back to the clubhouse where golfers can use the facilities in the clubhouse.

Water and Snacks: Water coolers at golf shop and on holes 5 and 14 have FILTERED WATER, bottled water will not be provided on the golf course. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the beverage cart on the golf course. The beverage cart is CASH PREFERRED

 

Food and Beverage – Lunch: Lunch will be available after play for the morning shotgun and before play for the afternoon shotgun and will be available in the ballroom in a buffet setting. There will be a large amount of seating available inside as well as some seating options available outside. If you would like to take your lunch to go, we have that option available. There will be empty to go containers available for you to fill with what items you would like.

There will be a salad bar buffet with some extra special items including turkey tenderloin tips, quinoa and chickpeas. There will also be a pulled pork taco station with cheese, salsa, soft tortilla wraps and cole slaw. Along with the soft tortilla wraps, rolls will be available, which is great to use if you will be taking any of these items to go. You can mix and match these delicious stations! We can’t forget about the best part; freshly baked cookies will be available to finish off your meal with a sweet treat!

 

Self serve water and iced tea stations will be available at the bar. Ask an attendant at the bar if you would like a soda as that will be included. The bar will also be available for additional drink purchases.

 

Additional Post Event Food and Beverage Information:

Monday: After the afternoon shotgun comes in the facility has offered to open with the following limited menu: Beyond Burger or Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($14 available for purchase with choice of fruit cup or chips) and the bar will be open. Kitchen open until 8:15 PM. Patio bar service open past kitchen hours.

Tuesday: After the afternoon shotgun comes in the facility has the following available: Restaurant opens at 3:00 PM with full menu available and kitchen closes at 8:15 PM. Patio bar service open past kitchen hours.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round each foursome is to send just ONE designated scorekeeper to the scoring area. All other players must not congregate near the scoring area. Scorekeepers must keep social distance in a line to confirm their scores with Mass Golf staff. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeeper that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.

 

Awards: Overall low gross and low net teams will be engraved on the trophy. Ties honored for first place gross and net only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club. Tee prizes will be distributed to all participants.

 

Additional Important Information: The parking lot is quite a distance from the cart staging area. We recommend to drive past the tennis courts and take a right into the bag drop area to drop off your golf bags. Then park your car in the parking lot and walk back over to the cart staging area. There will be one shuttle to help golfers in need from the parking lot to the cart area. We ask everyone to be ready to pop their trunk and drop their bag off quickly for less congestion in the bag drop area.

 

8AM SHOTGUNS – After golf please drive your golf cart directly to your car and drop off your clubs. Then bring your cart immediately back to the cart staging area so staff can flip the cart for the afternoon group. Thank you!
