The 2021 Maine Senior Women’s Amateur will see a few changes from previous years. The 2020 event ended regulation play with a 5-way tie, and after three playoff holes, darkness forced play to end with two competitors still in contention. The final outcome was not determined until a playoff round could be completed a week later with Laurie Hyndman besting Melissa Johnson for the title. This year the event will be a two-day competition with gross/net prizes by age flights for Round 1 while the 18 lowest scorers will go on to compete for the overall titles of Senior Champion and Runner-Up in Round 2. Additionally, this new format will bring us more in line with the Senior Championship events of our neighboring New England states.

A field of 120 players from 38 Maine clubs will tee off at Augusta CC on September 7. All 5 players from last year’s playoff will be competing as well as new “seniors” Christine Bournakel and Ruth Collucci.
