FORMAT &

QUALIFYING PLACES

36 holes of individual stroke play for a number of qualifying spots and alternate spots to be determined in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open Championship to be played June 2-5 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

One practice round per player and practice rounds are for players only. Practice rounds will be available on the designated dates and times below. Please call Dunwoody Country Club to reserve your practice round starting time based on the information below.  Practice round fee is $50 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether the player chooses to walk or ride. Cash and credit cards will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop.  Additional practice round availability and rates at the discretion of the host club.

 

  • Tuesday - Thursday, anytime.  Players may call one week in advance of desired date.
  • Friday, after 2:00 p.m.  Players may call one week in advance.
  • For Sunday, May 8 after 2:00 p.m.  Players may call on Thursday, May 5 to book practice round times.

CARTS

Practice round fees are $50 plus tax. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.  Players are permitted one practice round at that rate.  Additional practice round availability and rates at the discretion of the host club.  During the qualifying round, a caddie may transport a player’s bag on a cart for a maximum fee of $30 plus tax.  Spectator carts are strictly prohibited.

YARDAGES & TEES

A yardage sheet will be available on-site and through a link/download on the PLAYER INFO page on the event portal after April 14. Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP &

DRIVING RANGE:

The golf shop and driving range will open by 6:30 a.m. the morning of qualifying.

REGISTRATION

NO formal registration will be held on site.  Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5969 or e-mail JFAGES@GSGA.ORG

CADDIES

Players may provide their own caddie.  Caddies are not available from the host club.

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY/SCORING

The USGA Rules of Play and GSGA Pace of Play Policies shall be in effect. Click here to view policies.

 

Distance measuring devices ARE permitted in qualifying.

 

Beginning in 2022, GSGA is requiring players comply with live scoring through the Golf Genius mobile app.  One player in each group must enter the group's scores after each hole.  Players can download the Golf Genius mobile app and additionally follow along for a live leaderboard during the qualifier.

PREFERRED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICE

F & B items will be available beginning at 7:00 a.m. from the Halfway House. A lunch buffet will also be available in the Grill.  Cash ONLY is accepted for F & B purchases.

PRIZES

Silver medals will be presented to the low scorer and low amateur at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.
