USGA QUALIFYING EVENT (INSERT BANNER ABOVE IF APPLICABLE)

  • The person who claims the 2025 MGA Women's Amateur will earn a full exemption into the 2025 US Women's Amateur, set for Southern Hills Country Club (Tulsa, OK), August 5-11. This is true even if the person fails to qualify in the US Women's Am qualifying, set for July 8 at StoneRidge GC. (NOTE: This exemption cannot be deferred to another year nor is it transferable to another person should the champion already be exempt or have qualified.) 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

  • 54-holes, individual, stroke play. There will be a cut to the low 24 + ties after Round Two.
  • The Champion will be the player with the lowest total. In the event of a tie for first place in the Championship, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following play.
  • This is a WALKING ONLY event.  Both players and caddies must walk.
  • The field of 156 will be comprised of Exempt players and those who advance through Qualifying (see below). The Exempt Player List may be found under the Championship Details tab.

QUALIFYING FORMAT

  • 18-holes, individual, stroke play.
  • Qualifiers will be the players with the lowest total. In the event of a tie for Qualifying/Alternate spots, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following play.

  • Registration will open on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

  • Entries are open to the first 156 players to enter. 
  • A priority entry list has been created and spots will be held for those players through April 30th.  
  • After entries are filled, a waitlist will be established.

JUNIOR BOYS

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer:
(1) Who must NOT have reached their 19th birthday on or before the last day of the Championship, and
(2) Who is currently an MGA Associate Member, OR
(3) Who is a permanent resident of Minnesota.

 

MEN'S AMATEUR

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry, and
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of competition for the player (qualifying or championship).

 

MEN'S FOUR-BALL

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member, 
(2) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry,
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship, and
(4) Whose combined team Handicap Index® for 18 holes does not exceed 14.0 at the time of entry.

 

MGA PLAYERS'

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry, and
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of competition for the player (qualifying or championship).

 

MGA MID-PLAYERS'

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 30 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of competition for the player (qualifying or championship).

 

MGA SENIOR PLAYERS'

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 55 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 7.4 at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of competition for the player (qualifying or championship).

 

MEN'S MID-AMATEUR

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 30 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active and does not exceed 6.4 at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship.

 

MEN'S SENIOR AMATEUR

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 55 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active and does not exceed 7.4 at the time of entry (NOTE: Handicap requirement IS NOT in effect for the Grand Master Division) and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective on the first day of the Championship.

 

MEN'S SENIOR FOUR-BALL

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 55 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship.

 

JUNIOR GIRLS

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer:
(1) Who must NOT have reached their 19th birthday on or before the last day of the Championship, and
(2) Who is currently an MGA Associate Member, OR
(3) Who is a permanent resident of Minnesota.

 

WOMEN'S AMATEUR

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who has an active Minnesota Handicap Index® that does not exceed 12.0 at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship.

 

NOTE #1: Entry is limited to 120 players.  Players with an active Handicap Index® of 8.0 at the close of entries are guaranteed a spot in the field.  (NOTE: Should there be more than 120 entries with a Handicap Index® less than 8.0 at the close of entries, the lowest 120 indexes will be accepted.)  Players with a Handicap Index® between 8.1 and 12.0 will be accepted conditionally until the close of entries.  

 

WOMEN'S MID-AMATEUR

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 25 years of age as of the first day of the Championship, 
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active and does not exceed 18.0 at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship.

 

WOMEN'S SENIOR AMATEUR/MATCH PLAY/FOUR-BALL

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Who is at least 50 years old as of the first day of the Championship,
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry, and
(4) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the first day of the Championship.

 

WOMEN'S TEAM/CLUB

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry, and
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective the day of the Championship.

 

WOMEN'S SPRING SCRAMBLE:

Open to any female who is an MGA Associate member with an active Minnesota Handicap Index at the time of entry as well as the day of the Championship. Entry is limited to the first 100 two-player teams to enter.

 

MIXED AMATEUR

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:

  1. Who is an MGA Associate Member,
  2. Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry,
  3. Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active the first day of competition, and
  4. The combined total of the handicap indices of the two players cannot exceed 36.4 at the time of entry.

The Handicap Index® one week prior to the first day of the competition will be used during the competition. 

A team must be comprised of one male and one female.

To be eligible for the Senior Division, both players must meet the MGA's definition of a Senior (Male - at least 55 years of age - and Female - at least 50 years of age - as of the first day of the Championship).

 

NET TEAM/INDIVIDUAL

Entry is open to any amateur golfer:
(1) Who is an MGA Associate Member,
(2) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active at the time of entry, and
(3) Whose Minnesota Handicap Index® is active effective on the first day of the Championship.

 

 

KEEP BELOW FOR ALL EVENT ELIGIBILITY

  • An entry may be rejected at the discretion of the Committee at any time, including after the competition has closed.

 

      NOTE: For eligibility purposes, an MGA Associate Member through the MGA Join On-Line (JOL) program must have a Minnesota connection in addition to JOL membership to participate. Examples of connections would be a MN resident (permanent or seasonal), a non-resident student at a MN school, and/or a MGA course connection, validated by a course employee and/or score posting record. The Committee's decision on such a connection and eligibility is final.

RULES AND INFORMATION

  • The Rules of Golf, the MGA Terms of Competition (MGA Hard Card), and all Local Rules established specifically for the Championship will be in effect. Local Rules for this event will be available under the Course Details tab.  

 

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES

  • Players are permitted to use distance-measuring devices that measure distance only. 
  • The slope function must be disabled.

 

PACE OF PLAY / PLAYER CONDUCT / DRESS CODE

CADDIE POLICY 

  • Players may use a Caddie unless prohibited or restricted by a Local Rule.
  • A player is responsible for the behavior and attire of their caddie.

 

DIGITAL SCORING

  • Scoring will be done by use of the Golf Genius App. Players should have the app downloaded on their phones and be prepared to keep score. The player GGID will be sent via text and email to all players the night before each round using the cell phone number and email in their profile. 

 

LODGING ARRANGEMENTS

  • A block of rooms has been reserved at:                
  • Cutoff Date: June 9, 2025. Please contact the hotel and mention you are a participant in the MN State Junior Amateur Championship. Any rooms not reserved by the cutoff date will be released back to inventory.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

  • Practice rounds will be available at the players' expense.
  • Please call the Alexandria Golf Shop (320) 763-3605 or Geneva Golf Shop (320) 762-7089 and identify yourself as a Minnesota State Junior Boys’ contestant to schedule a practice round.
  • The fee may be dependent upon the day and time you play.

  • The MGA and StrackaLine have teamed up to allow our participants to purchase StrackaLine Yardage & Greens books at a discounted price. Click HERE to order your book. All StrackaLine books conform to the Rules of Golf and may be used in tournament play.

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS

  • To withdraw for any reason before the deadline of an MGA competition, a player may withdraw through Golf Genius or by notifying the MGA in writing. 
  • To withdraw for any reason after the deadline but before the start of competition, a player must notify the MGA in writing.
  • Refund Policy:
    • Cancelation on or before the entry closing date: Full refund.
    • Cancelation after the entry closing date and up to ONE (1) day before the first day of your competition: Full refund less a $25 administrative fee.
    • Cancelation on the day of the competition or later: No refund.
  • NOTE: In the event conditions will not permit the total completion of the competition, the Committee reserves the right to cut the field after the first round to the lowest 36 scoring players plus ties for play in the second round. No refunds will be given in the event this occurs.
