2022 Mixed Championship

Fairlawn GC | July 31

ELIGIBILITY

The Mixed Championship is open to all Maine amateur golfers.  Sides will consist of two players, one male and one female, where both players are from an MSGA member club and have a Handicap Index® from that club.

ENTRY INFORMATION

All sides must file an entry for the championship. Players must apply for the championship online at www.mesga.org. Entries will not be taken over the phone.

The field is limited to 70 sides. Sides do not need to consist of players belonging to the same club. Substitutions will be allowed as long as the substituted player meets the eligibility requirements prescribed above.

Cost: The entry fee for the championship is $60 per adult, and $35 per junior.

Entry deadline: July 21, 2022 at 11:59 pm.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The championship will consist of 18 holes of Scotch Ball Modified Pinehurst. In this format, both players hit drives from the appropriate tee and then play their partner’s ball for the second shot. One ball is then selected and players alternate shots until the ball is holed. Net scores will be determined by taking 60% of the lower handicap and 40% of the higher handicap.

Sunday, July 31:  First round, 18 holes

In the event of a two-way tie, both sides will be deemed co-champions.

If more than two sides tie, a tie-breaker will decide the winner.

PRIZES

Winner: Crystal trophy for every member of the side.

Top finishers: Prize money, determined by finishing position, in the form of a voucher added to the players’ MSGA accounts.

Prizes will be awarded for both GROSS and NET divisions. There will also be a division for couples.

RULES OF GOLF

All play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, except as modified by Local Rules. The on-site Rules Committee will have the final authority on all rulings. The competition is deemed to be closed when the trophy is awarded to the champion.

TRANSPORTATION

Players will be allowed to use motorized carts in the championship. Carts may be limited at certain sites, so players should plan accordingly. Payment for cart rentals is made to the host club. No more than two carts are allowed in a pairing.

WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY

Advanced entry fees will be refunded regardless of reason if the MSGA is notified before the close of entries. The MSGA will refund all of the entry fee, less $5, to cover processing fees and associated costs. Refunds of entries made by credit or debit card will be applied to the same card used for payment. After the close of entries, fees will be refunded only if the tournament remains full or in the event of injury or illness. No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament. Unusual circumstances will be considered individually and are at the discretion of the MSGA.

STARTING TIMES

After the application deadline, starting times will be posted at www.mesga.org, as well as emailed to all players in the field. Starting times will be made public no less than four days before the tournament begins.
