MARWAN KARROUM

To say that the live scoring system that we introduced this year to start our 2017 season off at the Opener at Glenbrook worked perfectly, would not be politically correct, but in this day and time of politics, tricky, half-truths and a new word I just learned the other day, ‘falsehood’ the live scoring system was spot on. Honestly I made some data entry mistakes on handicapping and not breaking the flights down right. The live score is an awesome system and it will take a few more tries to work out all the bugs. I am 100 % sure I will get a handle on it and make the League Great Again.  Even with the mistakes the Opener was a very good tournament. Five players all had a legitimate chances to win. Jose Sanchez came out guns blazing by an eagle on 2 and back to back birdies on 3 and 4 and all the sudden this was looking like a 59, but Glenbrook is a course that can give it to you and take it just as quick as a blink of an eye. Bogeys on 6,7,10 and the knockout punch double bogey on 16 and Jose was left scratching his head wondering WTF. The kid from Cincinnati, Chris Sawyer, had one bad hole on number 2 that kept him from winning the tournament he took a triple the dreaded 3 putt. He is hitting the ball well, look for him to be in the winner circle soon.  The final three players Gabe Ramos, who has not won since 2014, Jaime Villarreal, who was looking to start the year off right by moving up to the A flight and winning his own record breaking 12 victories and last but not least Marwan Karrourm who has been on a hiatus since the early part of the 2016 season, obviously working on his game. They were dead even at the after 18 all three them sitting on 68. So a scorecard put Villarreal out on the first hole with a double bogey on hole number 9. The next hardies hole was 16 Marwan managed to birdie that 223 yard par 3 beast. To give him his first league victory Congratulation on your well-played round Marwan you are the 2017 Glenbrook Open Champion

VINCENT GILMORE

The B flight will be looking for a new hero cause the Greatness has moved up to the A Flight. With Villarreal departure it will leave a void for someone to step up and fill. And it looks like Vincent Gilmore and Jayme Gonzales are up to the task. Vincent and Jayme pretty much ran away with the B flight tournament. They both have been working hard on there game and maybe will be in the A flight if they keep working on there game. Jayme got off to a slow start and at the turn found himself down 7 shots to Vincent Jayme pickup 4 shots on the back but could not really but enough press on Vincent for him to make him have a big enough mistake.  Vincent makes the Glenbrook Opener  his fourth career  win  Two years Vincent was a virgin looking for his first win and was  pretty much the worst players In the B flight and now you at the look Vincent. The top apex predator in his Flight. Great Job Vincent keep up the good work
