4th BAHRAIN AMATEUR OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

1. GENERAL:
The Championship will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A and the local rules of the Royal Golf Club. This Championship is a qualifier for the 14th King Hamad Trophy (KHT). The top 10 players and ties (excluding the National Team players) will qualify for the KHT which will be played from 24th to 26th November 2022. The Organizing Committee will be responsible for the running of the championship and reserves the rights to amend the rules of play where appropriate.
2. ELIGIBILITY:
The Bahrain Amateur Open shall be open to male amateur golfers with a
handicap index of 12.0 and below. The Organizing Committee may allow players
with higher handicap indices, but the playing handicap will be limited to 16.
3. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
a) All entries must be submitted online via www.bahrainga.org. Overseas players
must submit handicap certificates to bgassoc@gmail.com or present a hard
copy at time of registration at the club.
b) Entries will be limited to a maximum of 104 participants. All entries shall be
subject to the approval of the Organizing Committee which reserves the rights
to accept or reject any entrants without giving any reason for its decision.
c) The closing date for entries is Friday 30th September 2022.
d) All players are requested to register at the club house on Wednesday 12th
October 2022 before 4 pm.
4. ENTRY FEE:
The applicable entry fees are as follows:
i) Juniors BD50
ii) RGC members BD60
iii) Guests BD105
The entry fee shall be paid to the Royal Golf Club before the Practice Round on
Wednesday 12th October 2022.
5. FORMAT OF PLAY:
a) The Championship will be played over 3 days with one round of 18 holes each
day in a stroke play format.
b) All players will play the first two rounds and a cut will be made after the second
round with the leading 54 players and ties qualify for the final round.
c) The player with the lowest gross aggregate for the 3 rounds shall be crowned
as the Champion of the Bahrain Amateur Open Golf Championship.
d) In the event of a tie in the lowest gross total, the winner shall be decided by a
sudden death play-off over the 18th hole. The Organizing Committee may add
other hole(s) if the tie is not decided after 2 play-off holes.
e) In the event of a tie in any other place than first gross, the countback system
will be used to break the ties.
6. TIMES OF STARTING AND GROUPS:
a) Play will start between 6:30am and 7:00am during the tournament days using
the 1st and 10th tee boxes.
b) The draws for the first 2 days will be made randomly and players will play in the
same groups. The draw for the final round will be based on the gross score after
2 rounds.
c) Players shall report to the starter on the designated tee 10 minutes before their
starting times.
d) The Organizing Committee reserves the right to alter the starting times and
player groups if necessary.
7. PRIZES:
a) Main Prizes (54 holes):
There will be 6 gross prizes, 3 net prizes and 1 prize for the best gross score
by a junior. A junior player should be under 18 years as of 1st January 2022
(Born in year 2004 or later). The priority is for gross prizes in determining the
winners.
b) Consolation Prizes:
There will be prizes for best gross and best net scores on each day.

8. PRACTICE:
The course will be available for practice on Wednesday 12th October 2022.
Practice tee times may be booked directly with the Royal Golf Club, Tel: +973-
17750777 or through email: reservation@theroyalgolfclub.com. Guests are
required to pay the entry fee before playing the practice round.
9. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES
A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures
distance only. A player may not use a distance-measuring device that is designed
to gauge or measure other conditions (e.g. gradient, wind speed, weather, etc.).
Penalty: Disqualification
10. CADDEIS:
Caddies are not allowed, all players should use the golf cart assigned.
11. MOBILE PHONES:
Mobile phones are not allowed anywhere on the course. Players are requested to
switch off their mobiles or put on a silent mode.
