2017 HIGHLAND CUP

October 5-October 8

Irish Team vs. Italian Team vs. World Team

Welcome to Beacon Hill Country Club’s premier golfing event! The Highland Cup, initiated in 2008, is a unique Ryder Cup Format competition played each fall with representatives from three teams competing for the cup. Each team, consisting of 28 players (one Captain, 0ne Assistant Captain, 24 Qualifiers, and two Captain's Picks), plays 72 Holes of Match Play, over three days, using four different formats.

The Highland Cup kicks off, in customary fashion, on Thursday evening bringing all three teams together for a night of food, fun, and camaraderie to announce the weekend’s pairings and matches. The competition begins on Friday afternoon with (12) Team Matches playing Better Ball of Partners format, continues on Saturday with (10) Team Matches playing Pinehurst format in the morning and (10) Team Matches playing Alternate Shot format in the afternoon, and concludes on Sunday with (28) Singles Matches.

The Highland Cup is unique in that three teams are competing for the Highland Cup… The Team Matches play in six-somes and Singles Matches play in three-somes, all with three separate matches in each pairing group. Each team is awarded 1 Point for a match won, ½ Point for a match halved, and 0 Points for a match loss. The team that accumulates the most points at the end of the competition is named Highland Cup Champions!
