Format: Formats will vary from week to week, Please read carefully! They are available on the calendar under more info.
Tees: Tee boxes will vary from week to week, check the scorecard to make sure you are playing from the correct tee.
Playing the course as you find it: All play of the MGA will play the course as you find it, you are not allowed to remove any plants, and everyone must play the ball down; you cannot move your ball until on the green.
ALL BALLS MUST BE HOLED OUT! If you do not hole out, you must Mark an “X” for that hole’s score.
ALL SCORECARDS MUST BE SIGNED: Enter Gross Scores no matter how high. Scores on both paper and the app are certified with your signature and cannot be changed after they have been turned in.
Out of Bounds: Defined by white stakes, fences or walls that are boundary lines.
Penalty Areas: Holes #1, #3, #6, #8, #10, #11, #13, #17, and #18 will be played as RED staked Penalty Areas (formerly water hazard) You may play your ball from the penalty area OR, with a penalty of one stroke, your options are:
1) Stroke and Distance relief; play from where the previous stroke was made. If in the Teeing area, you may re-tee.
2) Back on the line relief; the relief area is based on a reference line going straight back from the hole through the estimated point where the original ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area, going back as far as you would like and dropping within one club length of that relief area.
3) Lateral relief from where it crossed the penalty area (2 club lengths from where it crossed the edge of the penalty area). No closer to the hole.
3) On hole 13, the Arrowhead CC local rule allows you to drop a ball in the drop area located on the right side of the lake, left of the red tee box.
For those that are confused about the drop area, it is for shots hit into the penalty area NOT balls hit out of bounds. If you hit a ball out of bounds you must hit from the previous spot with stroke and distance penalty.
Ground Under Repair: Is defined by white lines when applicable.
Embedded Ball in the general area: You get relief from an embedded ball anywhere on the golf course except for a bunker or penalty area. You may drop within 1 club length.
Looking for a lost ball: You only have 3 minutes to look for your ball. We do not use the local rule option for out of bounds or lost ball by dropping in the general area. You must go back from where you previously hit. If from the teeing area, you may re-tee.
Dropping procedure: Every drop must be dropped from your knee height, you do not have a choice.
Ball moved during Search: There is no longer a penalty for accidentally moving a golf ball while searching.
Moving ball on the green: There is no penalty for accidentally moving your ball or ball marker on the putting green.
The flagstick: No penalty if your ball played from the putting green hits the unattended flagstick in the hole.
Loose impediments: There is no penalty for moving loose impediments, touching the ground, or grounding your club in a penalty area. You may also remove loose impediments and touch the ground in a bunker. You can’t touch the sand in the bunker with a hand, club, or rake to test the condition of the sand. You can’t touch the sand in the bunker with a club in making a practice swing, in grounding the club right in front of or behind the ball, or in making the backswing for a stroke.
Repairing Damage on the Putting Green: You may repair damage on the green without a penalty by taking reasonable actions to restore the putting green as nearly as possible to its original condition by your hand, foot, repair tool, tee, club or similar item of normal equipment.
Damaged Clubs: A club damaged during a round may continue to be used during the round. You will not be able to replace the club if you were responsible for the damage.
Electric Carts: Please stay on the Cart Path for all Par 3’s, Follow the signs directing you towards the cart path about 30 yards in front of the Putting Green for each hole. Please DO NOT DRIVE NEXT TO THE PUTTING GREEN UNLESS YOU HAVE A HANDICAP FLAG! Stay out of the Wet areas in the rough and fairways. This will help Bermuda stay healthy in the Rough and Fairways.
