ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

 

ELIGIBILITY:

 

Applications are open to female golfers that meet the USGA policy on transgender individuals.  Entries are open to professional and amateur female golfers. Amateur golfers in the Open Division must possess a GHIN Handicap Index of 7.0 or less from a USGA recognized state or allied golf association at the time of entry.  Amateur golfers in the Senior Division must be 50 years of age by July 20, 2023, and possess a GHIN Handicap Index of 12.0 or less from a state or allied golf association at the time of entry.

 

All applications will be reviewed by the TGA.

 

ENTRY FEE:

 

Amateur: $225 per player

Professional: $275 per player

 

Senior Amateur: $175 per player

Senior Professional: $225 per player

 

ENTRY DEADLINE:

 

All players must file an application by the entry deadline - Wednesday, July 12, 2023, to be eligible to compete in the Championship. THE TGA WILL NOT ACCEPT LATE ENTRY APPLICATIONS.

 

SCHEDULE:

 

Wednesday, July 19: Official Practice Round & Tournament Registration

 

Thursday, July 20: Round One

 

Friday, July 21: Round Two & Check and Trophy presentation for Senior Division following play

 

Saturday, July 22: Final Round & Check and trophy presentation following play on 18 green

 

NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL:

 

A player who must withdraw before the championship must notify the TGA office at 615-465-6308 or the Official in Charge at the site of the event.  If a player must withdraw during an event, she must notify the TGA staff member. If a player does not show for an event or fails to follow the above procedure, their actions may result in a one-year suspension from all TGA competitions. The said player forfeits all entry fees.

 

REFUNDS:

 

Entry Fee will be refunded regardless of reason BEFORE the entry deadline.  After the entry deadline, no refunds for any reason (except for illness or injury) will be issued. Requests for a refund due to illness or injury will be treated on a case by case basis and can require a letter from a physician.  All refunds will be subject to a $25.00 withdrawal fee.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION: 

 

Players may register in person at Stonehenge Golf Club by 3 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, July 19. Position may be forfeited by the participant from whom no word is received by July 19 at 3 p.m. CDT.

 

CANCELLATION/EXTENSION OF PLAY:

 

If a lengthy suspension of play occurs during the final round or is likely to affect the final round, the TGA will discuss options with the host facility on the cancellation of the final round and/or shortening of the championship. The TGA will discuss all of these options with the host club's staff.

 

FIELD:

 

144 players with 96 positions reserved for the Open Division and 48 positions for the Senior Division.  After the close of entries on Wednesday, July 7th if the reserved positions have not filled in either division, those positions will become open to players waiting on either division's waiting list and positions will be filled based on time of entry.


FORMAT:

The Open Divison will be contested at 54-holes of stroke play. The field will be cut to the low 40 players and ties after 36 holes. Professionals and amateurs play the same yardage (approximately 6,100 yards). The Senior Division will be contested at 36-holes of stroke play.  There will be no cut in the Senior Division. Professionals and amateurs will play the same yardage (approximately 5,600 yards).

 

AWARDS:

 

The 2023 Golf Capital of Tennessee Women's Open Championship receives a crystal trophy and will have her name engraved on the Women's Open trophy on permanent display at Golf House Tennessee.  The low amateur receives a crystal trophy. The top-10 low amateurs in the Open Division will receive gift certificates to the Fairfield Glade golf courses.  The Senior Division Champion will receive a crystal trophy. The top-5 low amateurs in the Senior Division will receive gift certificates to the Fairfield Glade golf courses.

 

 

RULES OF GOLF:

 

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf and the most current TGA Rules of Play Card. All questions shall be settled by the committee in charge of the competition, whose decision is final.

 

CART POLICY:

 

Cart fees are included in your entry fee for the Championship. Golf carts are reserved for contestants, TGA officials, and host club staff. Spectator carts or caddie carts are not permitted at the championship proper. Players may ride, carry their bag, or have a caddie at the Championship, however, no refunds will be given for unused cart fees and players choosing to walk must adhere to the established Pace of Play policy.  Only players may utilize carts, neither caddies nor spectators may utilize player carts

 

CODE OF CONDUCT:

 

Contestants (and their caddies) are to observe proper golf etiquette at all times.  Any abuse or disrespect of other players, TGA staff, officials, spectators, employees of the host facility, or any other persons conducting or attending the Tennessee Golf Association sponsored event can be grounds for disqualification from the event, and possible revocation of the right to enter future Tennessee Golf Association events.  Such abuse may be verbal or physical or threat thereof and includes, but is not limited to: the use of obscene language or gestures, physical damage to property or equipment including that of the Tennessee Golf Association or host facility.  Rule 1.2b

 

TGA DRESS CODE:

 

Contestants must wear appropriate attire. Gym shorts, cut-offs, shirts without collars, and denim shorts or pants are not acceptable. Mock turtlenecks are acceptable based upon the host club's policy. Shorts must be Bermuda in length.

 

FOOTWEAR:


Traditional type spokes, regardless of competition, are prohibited at all qualifying rounds and at the championship proper. Penalty for breach of this condition of play is disqualification.
