Louisiana Women's Mid-Amateur & Senior Amateur Championships

Championship to determine the top Women's Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur in Louisiana in 2023.

 

Field/Format: Limited to the first 144 entries. All competitors will play 36 holes of stroke play over two days (September 28-29). All competitors will be pre-flighted based upon the September 18, 2023 World Handicap System revision, Any player in either division with a WHS Index of 8.0 or lower will be placed into the Championship Flight of the division they registered for. Any player 50 years or older will automatically be competing for the Senior Amateur Championship.  

 

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 5 PM CST.

Entry Fee, Withdrawal/Refunds: Entry fee of $225 which includes cart fee for practice round and tournament play. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries (September 19, 2023). 
 After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor's statement) reaches LGA offices by September 27, 2023. A $70 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.

Dress Code: Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Important Note:  OakWing Golf Club is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes. 

Eligibility: Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA and The R&A) holding membership in a LGA Member Club in good standing (2023 club and individual dues must be paid).  Entrants must be 21 years of age by midnight, September 28, 2023 and cannot be a member of a college golf team to compete in the Mid-Amateur Championship, and 50 years of age by midnight September 28, 2023 to compete in the Senior Amateur Championship and must possess a certified WHS Index of 40.0 or less. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. 
In addition to the Overall Championship, there is a Super Senior (65+) division and Grand Super Senior (70+) division for those participants who are 65 years of age and older. Divisions will be determined based on field size at the close of entries and at the discretion of the committee.

 

Practice Privileges: Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at OakWing Golf Club on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Cart fee paid by LGA. Contact the golf shop at OakWing on or after September 20 to schedule a practice round. Pairings and starting times for first round of play will be posted at OakWing, Wednesday, September 27. Pairings and starting times will also be emailed to participants on or about September 20 and posted on the LGA's website, www.LGAgolf.org. 

Prizes/Playoff: The Women's Mid-Amateur Champion will receive a crystal trophy and the Mid-Amateur perpetual trophy to be kept at the champions home club for one year. The Women's Senior Amateur Champion will receive a crystal trophy and the Senior Amateur perpetual trophy to be kept at the champions home club for one year. Additional prizes will be given out to the top finishers in each division. 

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by the current USGA Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.
