105th Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship

Entry Fee: $100.00

Entries Open: 3/14/2023 at 10:00am

Entries Close: 6/1/2023 at 5:00pm

 

Eligibility:

 

  • Any amateur golfers who have an active Mass Golf Membership.
  • Age 14 - 18 (through August 3, 2023).


Entry Procedures:

Entries and fully paid entry fees must be received through the Mass Golf Online Entry process by 5:00pm EST on the published entry deadline.

 

Format:

1. Sectional Qualifying - 18 Holes at Stroke Play (For all except Exempt entrants).
2. Championship Proper - 36 Holes at Stroke Play followed by Match Play (16 Qualifiers)

 

Field:

The Championship Proper field is limited to 120 players (approx.; based on qualifying ties).
 

Exemptions (Upon receipt of the online registration and fee, the players in the following categories are exempt from Sectional Qualifying); 2023 Junior Amateur Championship Exemptions

 

Schedule:

Sectional Qualifying - June 20 – July 7

 

Championship Proper

Round 1 – 7/31 (18 Holes)

Round 2 – 8/1 (18 Holes)

***The low 16 scorers will advance to Match Play on August 3. A tie for the final qualifying place(s) will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff.

Match Play - General Numeric Draw will be used. For purposes of determining places in the draw, ties in qualifying rounds will be decided by the order in which scores are returned, except that places of those participating in a play-off will be determined by performance in the play-off and if necessary, a blind draw.
Round of 16 (AM) - 8/2
Quarterfinals (PM) - 8/2

Semifinals (AM) - 8/3
Finals (PM) - 8/3 (18 Holes)
In the event of a tied match, (a) the winner shall be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off, and (b) the stipulated round is deemed to extend to as many holes as are required for a match to be won.

 

Caddies & Automotive Transportation:

Players are not permitted to use caddies or automotive transportation during Sectional Qualifying or the Championship Proper.

 

Food & Beverage:

A complimentary luncheon will be provided for all competitors at their qualifying round and during the Championship Proper.

 

Starting Times:

Qualifying Round Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the close of entries.

Championship Proper Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the last qualifier.

 

Practice Rounds:

Practice rounds privileges are at the discretion of the qualifying site and championship proper host club(s). Mass Golf will provide details surrounding the availability of practice rounds ahead of the scheduled event; please refrain from contacting the host clubs until specific details are received from Mass Golf.

 

Prizes:

The Junior Amateur Champion (14-18) will be presented the Charles E. Mason Trophy. The Pre-Junior Champion (14-15) will be presented the Joseph M. Batchelder Memorial Trophy as the low 36 Hole scorer at the conclusion of stroke play. There will be no play-off for the Pre-Junior Champion, co-champions will be recognized. Merchandise certificates will be awarded to the 16 Match Play Qualifiers and are only redeemable at the host site(s).

 

Trophy:

The Junior Amateur Champion (14-18) will be presented the Charles E. Mason Trophy.
The Pre-Junior Champion (14-15) will be presented the Joseph M. Batchelder Memorial Trophy.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy:

Competitors withdrawing from a championship/qualifier should notify a member of the Mass Golf staff as soon as practicable. Refunds may be processed based on the following criteria:

  • Prior to entries closing, Entry fee minus a $30 administrative fee will be refunded.

 

  • After entries close and more than thirteen days before the day of the event, 50% of entry fee will be refunded.

 

  • Within thirteen days of the event, or on the day of the event, NO refund will be processed.

 

Refunds will not be processed for competitors advancing through a qualifier who subsequently need to withdraw from the championship proper. Exempt players may be refunded according to the criteria above. The Mass Golf staff respectfully asks that if a player knowingly needs to withdraw from an event, please do so as soon as possible – out of respect and as a courtesy to any players on a waitlist/alternate list.
