PLAYER INFORMATION

 

SITE – Rivermont Golf Club, Johns Creek

 

DATE - July 13-16, 2023

 

FIELD SIZE - 144 players

 

FORMAT - 72 holes of individual stroke play. After 36 holes of play, the field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS - One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated times below two weeks prior to the competition. Please call Rivermont Golf Club to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round fee is $50. Credit cards and cash will be accepted.

  • Before July 12, weekdays, and weekends after 2:00 p.m., based on availability.  CALL CLUB TO SCHEDULE.
  • Wednesday, July 12, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  SIGN-UP THROUGH GOLF GENIUS CHAMPIONSHIP PORTAL ONLY BEGINNING JUNE 29.  EMAIL NOTIFICATION WILL BE SENT TO PLAYERS WHEN REGISTRATION OPENS.

 

YARDAGES & TEES - A practice yardage sheet is available on the event portal under the PLAYER INFORMATION section. Practice yardage sheets will also be available at the club. Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

 

COURTESY OF GSGA, YARDAGE BOOKS WILL BE PROVIDED COMPLIMENTARY TO PLAYERS AT CHECK-IN FOR YOUR PRACTICE ROUND.

 

PLAYER HOSPITALITY – A Championship Welcome Party will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from approximately 6:30-8:30 p.m. All players are welcome and may bring one guest at no additional charge.  For any additional guests please contact GSGA in advance.  This event will be held at Rivermont Golf Club. Mason Embers will be playing live music on guitar.  Locker room facilities with showers will be available.  Dress code for this event is come as you are (golf attire, club casual, no t-shirts or jeans please). Dinner and drinks will be provided. A brief program will begin around 7:30 p.m.  All players are encouraged to attend. More details to be provided.

 

All players making the cut are invited to a Championship Cut and Club BBQ and Cocktails Party on Saturday evening, July 15 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.  The band Whiskey Rebellion will be performing, and a fireworks show will take place at 9:45 p.m.  The club is hosting this special event and GSGA encourages all players making the cut to attend prior to Sunday’s final round.

 

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE - The golf shop and practice facilities will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. each day of the competition.  The Rivermont Golf Club practice facilities are intended for competition round warm-ups ONLY.

 

Should players desire an extended warm-up or additional practice time before or after their rounds during the Championship the following accommodations have been made:

 

Deer Valley Golf Range (2.6 miles away, 8015 Holcomb Bridge Road, Alpharetta, GA 30022) and RiverPines Golf (4.2 miles away, 4775 Old Alabama Road, Alpharetta, GA 30022)

 

Practice facilities at these additional locations will both be available to all competitors on a complimentary basis Wednesday, July 12-Sunday, July 16. 

 

Thank you to our partner, Club PT, who will be on-site providing assistance and services to players throughout the Championship.

 

STARTING TIMES - Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on July 7th.  Pairings will be communicated via email and text message from Golf Genius.

 

REGISTRATION - Formal registration will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 13 from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. If you are not able to register in person during this time, please call Rivermont Golf Club to confirm you will be playing in round one on Thursday. 

 

CARTS - Practice round fee is $50 plus tax. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. This is a walking only Championship.  Provisions are in place should GSGA and the Committee deem carts are necessary due to severe heat or the potential for severe weather on any individual day or throughout the entire Championship. Players with medical needs may request a golf cart by submitting an application to GSGA for use of a golf cart during the competition.  Please click on the Player Golf Cart Request link under the PLAYER INFORMATION heading.

 

SPECTATOR CARTS - Spectator carts are permitted to be rented for those individuals that have valid ADA certification that can be presented on-site. Spectator carts are extremely limited and may not be available should carts be needed for players in case of severe heat or severe weather circumstances.  Interested parties should contact GSGA (Jeff Fages, Sr. Director, Rules & Competitions - 678-324-5969 or JFAGES@GSGA.ORG) in advance of the Championship to inquire about spectator carts.

 

CADDIES - Caddies are permitted. Players may provide their own caddie. Push/pull carts are permitted. 

 

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY - The GSGA Rules of Play, Pace of Play and Spectator Cart Policy shall be in effect. Click here to view policies.

 

DRESS CODE - Proper golf attire must be worn in all phases of this Championship. No tank tops, tee shirts, or blue jeans will be allowed. Competitors must be neat in respect to personal grooming and clothing. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Shirts must have collars.

 

FOOD SERVICE - Food service will be available for players AND caddies throughout the Championship. A breakfast buffet will be available each day complimentary to players courtesy of Rivermont Golf Club.  A lunch buffet will be provided complimentary Thursday-Sunday courtesy of GSGA and Rivermont Golf Club. Credit cards are accepted for miscellaneous food and beverage purchases throughout the Championship.

 

 

PRIZES - Gift certificates will be awarded to the low 20 finishers. The champion will also receive an additional crystal trophy and their name engraved on the Robert H. Martin trophy.  Additional playing exemptions and invitations will be presented to the winner.

 

Additional player gifts will be awarded to players making the cut courtesy of Rivermont Golf Club, its membership, and Championship sponsor Piedmont Bank.

 

A Titleist Linksmaster golf bag will be awarded to the low round each day of the Championship courtesy of Rivermont Golf Club, its membership, and Championship sponsor Piedmont Bank.

 

 

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS – Players should reference the TRAVEL INFORMATION section of the event portal for special group block rates that have been set-up and courtesy of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau.

 

REFUND POLICY - A $30 service charge will be retained by the GSGA on all refunds granted prior to the close of entries. Entry fees will not be refunded after entries close unless there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled. Withdraws after the close of entries must be made by calling the GSGA Rules and Competitions Department at (770) 955-4272 or (800) 949-4742 or via email.
