ELIGIBILITY

• Open to VSGA members who are at least 50 years of age by August 14, 2023.
• All participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA member club in good standing.
• All participants must meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.

ENTRY FEES/DEADLINES

Qualifying

Players competing in a qualifier (may only enter one) are required to submit an entry form with the proper entry fee by Monday, July 17, 2023.  Entry fees are as follows: 

• Senior Amateur Championship Qualifying Only - $115 
• Senior Open Qualifying Only - $115 
• Both Qualifiers - $180
  • Entry fee includes mandatory course fee for qualifying round.
  • $80 of qualifying fees will be applied to the championship entry for successful qualifiers. 
  • The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host clubs.

Successful Qualifiers

Those who successfully qualify are required to pay the entry balance of $200 by Friday, August 4, 2023.

• Entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition.
• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

Exempt Players

Exempt players competing in the championship are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $280 by Monday, July 17, 2023 .

• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

FORMAT

Qualifying

• All non-exempt players must qualify to play in each championship.
• A player may only compete in one (1) qualifier.
• The total number of participants at each qualifier will vary by site and will be filled by lowest Handicap Index as of July 17, 2023.
• The number of qualifying spots available at each qualifier will be determined based on participation and will be announced on-site.

 

Championship Proper - 84 Players (includes all qualifiers and exempt players)

August 14-15 – Stroke play qualifying (18 holes per day); the low 32 players advance to match play

August 16 – Rounds one and two of match play

August 17 – Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches

August 18 – 18-hole match play final

 

PRIZES

• The Champion and Finalist receive gift certificates and trophies.
• All match play qualifiers receive gift certificates.
• On-site qualifying medalist(s) will receive a VSGA medal.
