NOTICE TO COMPETITORS

This supplements information on the Pennsylvania Golf Associations

 2017 Local Rules and Conditions of Competition Card.

 

The Rules of the United States Golf Association Govern PlayAll references to the Rules of Golf and Appendix I are found in the 2016 Rules of Golf. Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for breach of a local rule or condition is:  Stroke Play ~ Two Strokes

 

TEE MARKERS:           Championship & Senior Divisions: PAGA BLACK TEE MARKERS

                                           Super-Senior Division:  PAGA WHITE TEE MARKERS

 

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION: Is Permitted and Mandatory.  Maximum two carts per group.

 

DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES: The use of distance-measuring devices is permitted in all PAGA championships or qualifying rounds in accordance with Rule 14-3.

 

EMBEDDED BALL THOUGH THE GREEN: The Local Rule as prescribed in Appendix I is in effect.

 

PACE OF PLAY: 2-Point Pace of Play Checkpoint system is in effect.  Checkpoints will be on holes 9 and 18Time allowed to complete stipulated round at Chartiers CC is 4 Hrs 20 Min.

 

PRACTICE GROUND: The Driving Range to the right of #18 is out of bounds. The practice putting green is part of the competition course that the players may practice. The putting green is a wrong putting green.

 

ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS: See Rule 25.

  • Flower beds, whether mulched or filled with stones, should be played as ground under repair, relief is mandatory.

 

OBSTRUCTIONS: See Rule 24

  • The stone water fountain behind #12 green is an immoveable obstruction, relief is mandatory.
  • PAVED AND STONE CART PATHS ARE IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS. GRAVEL AND GROUND UNDER REPAIR AREAS LEADING INTO CART PATHS WILL HAVE THE SAME STATUS AS THE PATH.
  • Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.

 

OUT OF BOUNDS: Defined by the nearest inside edge at ground level of white stakes, white lines, boundary fences and public road ways.  

 

WATER HAZARDS & LATERAL WATER HAZARDS: Yellow lines and stakes define the margins of water hazards.  Red lines and stakes define the margins of lateral water hazards.  When both lines and stakes define such margins, the lines govern.

 

SCORECARDS: Are to be returned to the scoring area, LOCATED ON THE PATIO behind the 18th green, immediately following conclusion of round.  To avoid possible penalty, players should remain in the designated scoring area until the official in charge of scoring has accepted their card.

 

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for first place in the Super-Senior or Overall Championship, there will be a sudden death play-off immediately following the conclusion of play.

 

Players Lunch:  A lunch buffet (approximately 11:00-3:30) is included in your entry fee on both days of competition and will be located in the Ball Room.  A cash bar will be available and the Men’s Grill will be open beginning at 7:00 a.m.  Halfway house will be open by 10:15 a.m. and players may use cash or reciprocal charge.

 

Championship Information

 

Format

The Art Wall, Jr. Memorial will be played over 36 holes of stroke play. Players will be re-paired for the second round according to first-round results. There will be three age divisions in the Art Wall, Jr. Memorial, the Super-Senior age division will compete from a different tee.

AGE DIVISIONS: Age 40-54 - Age 55-64 - Age 65 and older (ages 40-64 Play from same tees).

 

Starting Times

Day two starting times will begin with the Super-Senior Division, followed by the Overall Division.  First round results will determine 2nd round pairings.

 

Caddie & Cart

Carts are MANDATORY at the request of the host club. Cart fee of $30/day was collected at registration.

 

Prizes

The individual with the lowest gross score after 36-holes will be declared the Art Wall, Jr. Memorial Champion. Additional prizes will be awarded to the top 5 from the 40-54 age group, the top 3 from the 55-64 age group, and the Super-Senior Champion.

Prizes will also be awarded to the team (team members must be from the same club) that posts the best 2 scores of 3 for the two rounds of the event (Championship & Senior Division Only).

 

Ties

In the event of a tie for the Art Wall, Jr. Memorial Championship or Super-Senior Championship, there will be a sudden-death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play Wednesday afternoon. All other ties will be broken by matching scorecards in accordance with USGA guidelines.

 

Practice Round

Practice rounds will be available on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday after 2:00 p.m. Please call the golf shop at 412-921-5360 to reserve a tee time one day in advance.

Practice round fee: $75 includes cart. Cart is required for practice round. Payment options are Visa/MasterCard or reciprocal club charge.

 

Practice Range

Will be open approximately one hour prior to first tee time.

 

Registration

Please be at your starting tee ten minutes prior to your tee time.

 

Food & Beverage

Will be available for purchase via reciprocal charge or cash.  A lunch buffet is included in entry fee for all players on each day of competition will run from approximately 11:00-3:30. The halfway house will also be open for purchases via reciprocal charge or cash.

 

Hotel

There are several hotels available in various price ranges in the Chartiers/Pittsburgh area.  The Association recommends the SpringHill Suites in Mt. Lebanon, and there are also numerous options in the airport area as well as the Green Tree area.  All are within 10-15 minutes of Chartiers CC.
