PENMAR GOLF CLUB

ANNUAL PRESIDENT’S CLUB MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

1. All Penmar Golf Club Members in good standing will be eligible for the President’s Cup Match Play Tournament. A current USGA handicap index is required for participation. Any questions of eligibility will be decided by the Match Play Tournament Director.

2. A fee of $5.00 per player is charged for each tournament entered.  This fee must be paid before your first scheduled match.

3. Match play tournaments will be seeded by USGA rules.

4. Preliminary matches in all tournaments will be nine holes unless the opponents elect to play eighteen. The final matches will be decided by over eighteen holes.  Players may play at any course they choose.

5. The pairings and end dates will be posted on the club web site.

THE END DATES FOR EACH ROUND MUST BE OBSERVED.  THOSE WHO DO NOT FINISH A ROUND BY THE POSTED DEADLINE ARE LIABLE TO BE FORFEITED.

Any request to play a match after the end date must be cleared IN ADVANCE by the Tournament Director.  The Tournament Director's Decision will be final.

6. The President's Cup Matches will be played using the current USGA handicap for the players. Handicap strokes will be allotted to each player based on the lowest player's handicap. Their opponent will be allotted the difference in handicap strokes between their handicap and the low player's handicap. For example, say player A has a 2 handicap and his opponent C has 4. Player A plays at scratch, player C receives 2 strokes.  The strokes are given in the Handicap order on the scorecard. Player C, for example, will receive strokes on holes 5 and 6 at Penmar.  No player may receive more than one stroke per hole after adjustment.

7. Players will use their USGA handicap ON THE DAY OF PLAY for each match. Nine-hole handicaps are calculated by having the 18-hole handicap and rounding off. Handicap calculation tables are located above the handicap computer in the coffee shop.

8. In individual match play the player with the lowest score (net) wins the hole.

A match is won by the individual that leads by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played.

9. A match ending in a tie will be decided by playing an additional nine-hole match. If the match is still tied it will be decided by sudden death play-off.

10. If an individual is not present at the agreed start time of a match they forfeit the match.

11. ALL FINAL MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED AT PENMAR. Preliminary matches may be played elsewhere at the discretion of the opponents.

12. The results of the match must be posted on the web site or sent to the Tournament Director as soon as possible after completion.

Each player must enter their score in GHIN for handicap.
If a player did not finish a hole (i.e. it was conceded or they were "out") they will enter the most likely score they would have made.  If a player doesn't finish all holes of the match they will enter par plus any handicap strokes they are entitled to on the hole.

13. Any disputes will be decided by the acting Tournament Director. Their decision will be final.

14. ALL QUESTIONS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN FOR EACH CHAMPIONSHIP.
