Missouri Amateur Qualifier - Twin Oaks

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Gender: Open to male golfers.
  • Membership: Must be a member of the MGA.
  • Age: No age restrictions.
  • USGA Handicap Index: Must have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index.
  • Must live in Missouri or a contiguous state.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Deadline: Must register online 8 days prior to qualifying event date. A player may only submit one entry.
    • There will be a $50 late fee for any late entries
  • Fee: $175 (includes qualifying event and amateur)
  • Refund Policy: Refunds are issued if requested at least 7 days prior to start of event. You will receive the entry fee minus a $30 processing charge. For this event, you can receive a refund of $145 if requested at least 7 days prior to qualifying event date. Refunds are not issued if requested less than a week in advance.
  • Transfer Qualifying Site: A player may transfer to a different site, if done so 7 days prior to earlier event.

 

SECTIONAL QUALIFYING SCHEDULE

All non-exempt players must qualify to earn a spot in the Championship. Once entries close, the number of qualifying spots available per qualifying site will be posted and emailed to players with additional information pertaining to their qualifying site.

  • Smithville: Paradise Pointe GC, June 3, 2024
  • Springfield: Twin Oaks CC, June 3, 2024
  • Poplar Bluff: Westwood Hills CC, June 5, 2024
  • New Bloomfield: Meadow Lake Acres CC, June 7, 2024
  • Last Chance Qualifier: Eagle Knoll GC, Hartsburg, June 12, 2024 (for those who missed the cut in an earlier qualifier, additional $75 entry fee)

 

EXEMPT PLAYERS

Players in the following categories are exempt into this year's Championship. The MGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players must submit an entry prior to the deadline (May 29, 2024 at noon).

  • E1. Exemption shall be given to the Missouri Amateur Champion from the date of their victory through their 65th birthday. After the age of 65, players will continue to be exempt for five years after their last qualification for match play in the tournament -  See list of past champions here. 
  • E2. Top 12 players from the 2023 MGA Amateur Player of the Year Point List: Tony Gumper, Brad Nurski, Zach Vandolah, Ryan Eckelkamp, Hunter Parrish, Nicholas Sheppard, Peter Weaver, Kory Bowman, Brad Carpenter, Alex Locke, Adam Pfeiffer, Jason White
  • E3. Quarterfinalists from 2023 Missouri Amateur Championship: Jeffrey Johnston, Chad Niezing, Peter Weaver, Kanon Kendrick, Michael Winslow, Presten Richardson, Hunter Jowers, Zach Vandolah
  • E4. All 2023 Individual Champions:
    • Junior Amateur: Archer Schnieders
    • Junior Match Play: Jonathan Jordan
    • Missouri Amateur: Peter Weaver
    • Stroke Play top 3 and ties: Brad Nurski, Alex Locke, Max Harres
    • Senior Amateur: Sean McQueary
    • Mid-Amateur top 3 and ties: Nicholas Sheppard, Adam Pfeiffer, Kory Bowman
  • E5. 2023 Senior Player of the Year, highest ranking player not already exempt and ties: Buddy Allen
  • E6. U.S. Open Local Qualifier (current year)
  • E7. 2 exemptions to host club
  • E8. Division I and II players that qualify for Match Play in College National event
  • E9. The MGA reserves the right for the Executive Committee of the MGA to grant special exemptions.

 

STATE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT & SCHEDULE

1. Sectional Qualifying - 18 holes: Players must qualify at one of the sectional qualifying sites listed above.

2. Championship: The Championship field consists of place-winners from sectional qualifying and exempt players.

  • Monday, June 24: Practice round
  • Tuesday, June 25: Round 1, 18 holes stroke play
  • Wednesday, June 26: Round 2, 18 holes stroke play

3. Cut: There is a cut after 36 holes to the low 64 players.

  • In the event of a tie, a sudden death playoff will be held immediately following round 2

4. Match Play

  • Thursday, June 27: Round of 64
  • Friday, June 28: Round of 32, Round of 16
  • Saturday, June 29: Quarterfinals, Semifinals
  • Sunday, June 30: Final Round - 36 holes

 

CADDIES

Players may bring their own caddie or carry their own clubs.

 

GOLF CARTS

Push carts are approved without restrictions. The use of motorized golf carts is outlined below:

  • Sectional Qualifying: A player may use a golf cart during sectional qualifying rounds. This is NOT included in the entry fee. Players must pay in the pro shop if they choose to ride.
  • Championship: A player may use a golf cart during the Championship practice and competition rounds. This is NOT included in the entry fee. Players must pay in the pro shop if they choose to ride.

Champion - Silver and the traveling trophy for 1 year

Runner Up & Semifinalists - Silver

Lowest Qualifying Score - Silver

Match Play Field - Money clip

 

PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINTS

The Championship is an MGA point event.
