38th Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY, PROCEDURE & INFORMATION

Entries are open to male amateur golfers who have reached their 25th birthday on or before the first round of competition (September 18th, 2018). Teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 10.0 or less. The Senior division is open to male amateur golfers who have reached their 55th birthday on or before the first round of competition. Teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 14.0 or less. The Super Senior division is open to male amateur golfers who have reached their 65th birthday on or before the first round of competition. Teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 16.0 or less. All tournament applicants (both team members) must be a member of a Trans-Miss Member Club or make an annual contribution ($100) to the Trans-Miss Golf Association and Turf Scholarship Fund, in addition to the Championship Entry Fee ($1,500).

 

Entries will be accepted in the order they are received at the discretion of the Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Committee; preference will be given to past participants in Trans-Mississippi Golf Association Championships, competitive record in prior Trans-Mississippi Golf Association Championships, competitive record of each team member in competitive championships and contributions made to the Turf Scholarship Fund. If a particular division is not full by Wednesday, July 4th and there is a wait list in another division, spots in the field may be filled by those teams on the wait list.  For more information, see the applicable Policies and Procedures.  Tournament entries will open on Thursday, March 1st at 9:00 am (CST) and will close on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:00 pm (CST). 

 

EXEMPTIONS

All exempt players who meet the criteria outlined below are required to register before Wednesday, July 4th at 5:00 pm (CST).

  1. Past Champions in the Championship (Mid-Amateur) Division for the previous five (5) championships.
  2. Past Champions in the Senior Division for the previous five (5) championships.
  3. Past Champion in the Super Senior division in the previous year’s championship.
  4. Top five (5) Finishers (and ties) in the previous year’s Championship (Mid-Amateur) Division.
  5. Top three (3) Finishers (and ties) in the previous year’s Senior Division.
  6. Trans-Mississippi Golf Association/Host Club Selections.

 

FORMAT, FIELD SIZE & DIVISIONS

The championship will be contested over 54 holes of four-ball stroke play with three (3) divisions; Championship, Senior and Super Senior.  Each division will play from separate tees/yardages and separate champions will be recognized in each division.

 

Field Cut: At the conclusion of 36 holes the field will be cut to the low 48 teams (and ties), with a pro-rated representation from each division. The pro-rated allocation of teams making the cut from each division will be reflective of the number of teams in each division, relative to the total field size.  The determination of total field size, number of teams in each division and pro-rated representation of teams making the cut (before ties) will be announced in conjunction with pairings being posted.

 

The field is limited to 96 teams, as outlined below:

Mid-Amateur     25 & Over (36 teams)

Senior                55 & Over (28 teams)

Super Senior     65 & Over (20 teams)

 

CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION

All competitors must register with Trans-Mississippi staff prior to the start of the championship. Players that do not register may be subject to disqualification.  Official tournament registration will be held at Mayacama Golf Club on Monday, September 17th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Competitors who are unable to register on the date and time listed above must contact a Trans-Mississippi staff in advance of the Championship.

 

OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND

All confirmed competitors should contact the golf shop at Mayacama Golf Club at (707) 569-2916, no earlier than Tuesday, September 11th, to schedule a practice round for Monday, September 17th.  Players are limited to one (1) complementary practice round on the designated practice round date.

 

STARTING TIMES/PAIRINGS       

Starting times/pairings for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than Thursday, September 13th.  Copies will also be distributed at registration, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and in the Golf Shop on Monday, September 17th. Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play at approximately 7:00 pm online at www.trans-miss.org, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and the Golf Shop.  Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the second round of play.

 

HOST HOTELS

A discounted rate and courtesy room block have been established at the Hotel Trio (110 Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448) for the championship between Sunday, September 16th and Thursday, September 20th. Players must make reservations directly with the hotel and are asked to reference ‘Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship 2018’ when making their room reservations by phone to get the applicable rates and availability; King Studio or Double Queen Studio ($219/night, plus applicable taxes).  Guest rooms will be held until September 2nd, after which date they will be subject to availability and at market rates (group rate will apply only on the dates listed above).  To reserve a room please use the online "Hotel Trio Reservation Link" under the "Championship Information" dropdown in the grey bar above or contact the hotel directly (707) 343-8095, prior to the applicable deadlines.  Please note when making reservations that the property has a 72-hour cancellation policy; early departure fee is applicable and is equal to one night room and tax.

TRANSPORTATION/CADDIES

Players may walk or ride at their own discretion. Caddies are permitted, but are not guaranteed a cart seat. Cart fees for the tournament are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at a time, and a maximum of two (2) carts per group.  Please be advised that Mayacama is predominantly a walking club and has a local caddie program that players are encouraged to utilize; more details will be provided and posted here in advance of the championship.

 

PLAYER RECEPTION

All competitors and a guest are invited to attend a reception on Monday, September 17th at Mayacama Golf Club.  All reception costs, including hors d’oeuvres and beverages are included in the entry fee.  The reception will begin at 6:30 pm following the Official Practice Round.  Dress code for the reception is, at minimum, golf attire (shorts are permitted).

 

CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES

The Clubhouse facilities at Mayacama Golf Club will be open daily at 6:30 am. Player’s will be responsible for breakfast/lunch purchased on the practice round day.  Breakfast and lunch are provided for all three days of the championship and are included with each team entry fee for the championship. Guests may dine with players, but will be charged the appropriate cost for the same meal. Acceptable forms of payment in the Mayacama Golf Club Clubhouse will be distributed to players in advance of the championship.

 

All other food and beverage consumed will be at the competitor’s expense – breakfast and lunch options will be available for purchase as noted above; all charges will include appropriate gratuity charge and sales tax.

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES

Practice Facilities at Mayacama Golf Club will be available to all competitors for the duration of the Championship.  The practice facilities will open Monday, September 17th at 7:30 am and throughout each championship round, beginning one hour prior to the first starting time.  The practice range will close at dusk for maintenance each evening.

 

LOCKERS & CLUB STORAGE

There will be limited lockers and club storage available at Mayacama Golf Club during the championship.  Players interested in these services should inquire at registration with a member of the Mayacama Golf Shop Staff.

 

POLICIES & PROCEDURES/CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

The Trans-Mississippi Code of Conduct and Dress Code are in effect throughout the championship. GROOVE CONDITION OF COMPETITION

The groove conditions of competition that were made effective on January 1st, 2010 by the USGA are not in effect for this championship.

 

DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES

The optional condition as prescribed (see Appendix I, page 153) is in effect for the championship, for devices that measure distance only.

 

PARTNER SUBSTITUTION

Partner substitutions for the Trans-Miss Four-Ball are permitted. Substitutions for teams will be permitted prior to the start of competition and individuals must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for the Trans-Miss Golf Association, as well as the specific tournament requirements (i.e., age, USGA Handicap Index, etc.). A player may not select a substitute partner from those players who are already in the championship field. Players who are on the waitlist are eligible substitutions. WITHDRAWAL/NO SHOW POLICY          

If you find you cannot compete in the championship, you must officially withdraw from the event by contacting Trans-Mississippi Staff at (214) 468-8942, ext. 126 or by emailing akolb@trans-miss.org. If you do not officially withdraw, you may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION from future Trans-Mississippi Championships.  Any team withdrawing prior to Wednesday, September 5th at 5:00 pm will receive a full refund, less a $50.00 administrative fee. Any withdrawals after the September 5th deadline will not receive a refund unless a spot is filled by a team on the wait list.
