ENTRY ELIGIBILITY, PROCEDURE & INFORMATION

Entries are open to male amateur golfers who have reached their 25th birthday on or before September 12th.  Teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 10.0 or less.  The Senior division is open to male amateur golfers aged 55 or older as of September 12th.  Senior teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 14.0 or less.  The Super Senior division is open to male amateur golfers age 65 or older as of September 12th.  Super Senior teams must have a combined USGA handicap index of 16.0 or less.Each team member must be a member of a Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member club. If either partner’s club chooses not to become a member club, they may make a minimum $100 contribution in lieu of club membership as part of the entry process, in addition to the championship Entry Fee ($1,600).

 

Entries will be accepted in the order they are received at the discretion of the Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship Committee; preference will be given to past participants in Trans-Mississippi Golf Association Championships, competitive record in prior Trans-Mississippi Golf Association Championships, competitive record of each team member in competitive championships and contributions made to the Turf Scholarship Fund. If a particular division is not full by Wednesday, August 2nd and there is a wait list in another division, spots in the field may be filled by those teams on the wait list.  For more information, see the applicable Policies and Procedures.  Tournament entries will open on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:00 am (CST) and will close on Wednesday, August 30th at 5:00 pm (CST). 

 

EXEMPTIONS

All exempt players who meet the criteria outlined below are required to register before Wednesday, August 2nd at 5:00 pm (CST).

  1. Past Champions in the Championship (Mid-Amateur) Division for the previous five (5) championships.
  2. Past Champions in the Senior Division for the previous five (5) championships.
  3. Past Champion in the Super Senior division in the previous year’s championship.
  4. Top five (5) Finishers (and ties) in the previous year’s Championship (Mid-Amateur) Division.
  5. Top three (3) Finishers (and ties) in the previous year’s Senior Division.
  6. Trans-Mississippi Golf Association/Host Club Selections.

 

FORMAT, FIELD SIZE & DIVISIONS

The championship will be contested over 54 holes of four-ball stroke play with three (3) divisions; Championship, Senior and Super Senior.  Each division will play from separate tees/yardages and separate champions will be recognized in each division.

 

The field is comprised of the following teams, as outlined below:

Championship (Mid-Amateur)    25 & Over (42 teams)

Senior                                            55 & Over (30 teams)

Super Senior                                65 & Over (24 teams)

 

CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION

All competitors must register with Trans-Mississippi staff prior to the start of the championship. Players that do not register may be subject to disqualification. Official tournament registration will be held at Bayonet & Black Horse on Monday, September 11th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Competitors who are unable to register on the date and time listed above must contact Trans-Mississippi staff in advance of the Championship.

 

OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND

All confirmed competitors should contact the golf shop at Bayonet & Black Horse at (831) 899-7271, no earlier than Wednesday, August 30th, to schedule a practice round for Monday, September 11th. Players are limited to one (1) complementary practice round on the designated practice round date.

 

STARTING TIMES/PAIRINGS       

Starting times/pairings for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than Friday, September 8th.  Copies will also be distributed at registration, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and in the Golf Shop on Monday, September 11th. Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play at approximately 7:00 pm online at www.trans-miss.org, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and the Golf Shop.  Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the second round of play.

 

HOST HOTEL

Discounted rates have been established at the following host hotel; players must contact the host hotel directly to make their own reservations.

 

The Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa (1 Old Golf Course Road, Monterey, CA 93940) is the host hotel for the championship.  Players are asked to reference ‘Trans-Mississippi Golf Association’ when making their room reservations by phone to get the applicable discounts, based on occupancy: $189 per night (single/double), $214 (triple) and $239 (quadruple).  Quoted discounts do not include taxes, however the negotiated room rate waives the hotel resort services fee and includes the following complimentary services: valet and self-parking, wifi in guest rooms and access to other resort amenities.  Guests are also eligible to receive discounted access to the Del Monte Golf Course and its practice facilities.

 

Guest rooms will be held until Monday, August 7th, after which date they will be subject to availability and at market rates (group rate will apply until 2 days prior to the start of the event). TRANSPORTATION

Teams are encouraged to ride.  Cart fees for the tournament are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at a time, and a maximum of two (2) carts per group.

 

PLAYER RECEPTION

All competitors and a guest are invited to attend a reception on Monday, September 11th at Bayonet & Black Horse. All reception costs, including hors d’oeuvres and beverages are included in the entry fee. The reception will begin at 6:30 pm following the Official Practice Round. Dress code for the reception is, at minimum, golf attire (shorts are permitted).

 

CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES

The Clubhouse facilities at Bayonet & Black Horse will be open daily at 6:30 am. Player’s will be responsible for breakfast/lunch purchased during the Practice Round.  Breakfast and lunch are provided, at no cost to players, for all three days of the championship. Guests may dine with players, but will be charged the appropriate cost for the same meal.

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES

Practice Facilities at Bayonet & Black Horse will be available to all competitors for the duration of the Championship. The practice facilities will open Monday, September 11th at 7:30 am and throughout each championship round, beginning one hour prior to the first starting time.  The practice range will close at dusk for maintenance each evening.

 

LOCKERS & CLUB STORAGE

There will be limited lockers and club storage available at Bayonet & Black Horse during the championship.  Players interested in these services should inquire at registration with a member of the Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Shop Staff.

 

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

The Trans-Mississippi Code of Conduct and Dress Code are in effect during the throughout the championship. WITHDRAWAL/NO SHOW POLICY          

If you find you cannot compete in the championship, you must officially withdraw from the event by contacting Trans-Mississippi Staff at (214) 468-8942, ext. 126 or by emailing ccrawford@trans-miss.org. If you do not officially withdraw, you may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION from future Trans-Mississippi Championships.

 

Any team withdrawing prior to Wednesday, August 30th at 5:00 pm will receive a full refund, less a $50.00 administrative fee. Any withdrawals after the August 30th deadline will not receive a refund unless a spot is filled by a team on the wait list.
