Senior Exchanges
We have another exciting season of 14 Senior Exchange tournaments for you this year that includes exchanges with Lake Merced, Cal Club, and Olympic. Our first tournament will be at Olympic on April 19th, and sign-ups for the first four tournaments are now open.
The Senior Exchange tournaments are a series of friendly tournaments with other golf clubs in the area that are open to members of the Men’s Section of the Stanford Golf Club over the age of 50. The series includes home tournaments at Stanford where we host the other clubs and away tournaments at each of the other clubs where they host Stanford players. Each foursome in these tournaments includes members from two or more of the participating clubs, all playing as a team, and typically the team score on each hole is the best 2 net scores for the foursome.
Sign Up Using Golf Fusion
As we have done the last two years, each Senior Exchange tournament is a separate tournament on Golf Fusion. Thus,
Players sign up and pay for each Senior Exchange tournament on Golf Fusion just as they do for any of the Stanford Club’s other single event tournaments; and players can use Golf Fusion to cancel from a Senior Exchange tournament by canceling from the corresponding Golf Fusion tournament (as with any of the Stanford Club’s other single event tournaments).
Incentives For Playing The Home Tournaments
The structure for Senior Exchanges on Golf Fusion includes an incentive for playing in the senior exchange home tournaments at Stanford where we host visiting clubs. The incentive is a fee reduction (from $120 to $95) and roster priority for each away tournament given to players who also sign up for a designated home tournament that typically occurs near in calendar days to the away tournament. So, for popular away tournaments that are likely to sell out (such as the ones at the Olympic Club, Lake Merced, and Cal Club), it will be important for obtaining a slot on the roster for those away tournaments to sign up for them early and to also sign up for the designated home tournament. The tournament descriptions on Golf Fusion provide the details on how to obtain the fee reductions and roster priority for each away tournament.
Tees For The Home Tournaments
This year, the tees that each player will play from in the Senior Exchange tournaments at Stanford will be determined before tournament day. Players may specify which tees they want to play from in a tournament when they sign up for the tournament using the "Notes" field provided by Golf Fusion. Men who do not specify a tee preference and who have a handicap index of 12 or less will play from the black tees, and all other men who do not specify a tee preference will play from the white tees. For the tournament at Stanford on October 3rd in which both men and women will be playing, women who do not specify a tee preference and who have a handicap index of 12 or less will play from the white tees, and all other women who do not specify a tee preference will play from the blue tees.
