Exam Details - 80 Question Rules Exam

EXAM INFO:

Where: OGA Golf Course Conference Room (located on the lower level of the clubhouse.)

Results: In order for an individual to receive their results, they must create a login by registering at rules.usga.org if they have not already done so previously. If an individual does not register through rules.usga.org he or she will not receive exam results.

Additional details: The exam will be given in two parts.

Part I (closed book) of the exam must be completed without any notes or reference materials. On Part II (open book) any printed reference materials or handwritten notes may be used (the Rules of Golf and Official Guide are recommended). No electronic materials may be used.

Time and Breaks: The total time allowed to complete both parts of the exam is 4 hours and breaks may be taken at any time during the exam. Individuals taking the exam may use as much time as they choose to complete Part I, and the remainder of the 4 hours to complete Part II. Individuals may leave the area in which they are testing but may not take their exam booklet or answer sheet out of the room.

Exam Booklets and Answer Sheets:

Individuals are permitted to make notes and marks in their exam booklets. There are separate answer sheets for Part I (1-40) and Part II (41-80). On the ANSWER SHEET for Part I individuals will need to provide:

• answer whether they wish to have their exam results shared with the OGA,

• the booklet number, and

• the date.

1. When the Part I exam booklet is passed out shortly before the exam begins, individuals should check to see that it has all the pages containing questions 1-40.

2. Fully fill in the bubble corresponding to the letter of the answer chosen (A, B, C or D).

3. On the ANSWER SHEET, only one answer for each question may be chosen. An answer with more than one bubble filled in will be counted as wrong.

4. If an answer needs to be erased, the mark in the bubble should be erased as completely as possible.

5. A response left blank on an answer sheet will be counted as wrong.

6. There is no penalty for a wrong answer so guessing is recommended rather than leaving an answer blank.

7. The Part I exam booklet and answer sheet will be returned to the proctor when it is complete. The proctor will then give the individual a Part II exam booklet and answer sheet. Name, date, booklet number and registration number information on the Part II answer sheet are to be filled in the same way as on Part I.

8. Please AVOID making ANY EXTRANEOUS MARKS on the answer sheet (answer sheets are electronically graded, and extraneous marks could be interpreted as a wrong answer).
