2018 NWAGA Seniors/49er's Eclectic

Eligibility: Open to golfers who will have reached their forty-ninth birthday by August 6, 2018. Entrant must be an Amateur Golfer with an active USGA Handicap Index® issued by a “member club” of the Nebraska Golf Association. Entrant must also be a member of NWAGA and a “resident” of Nebraska (See NWAGA Residency Criteria below).
NWAGA Residency Criteria: An individual is considered to be a resident of Nebraska if they:
- Maintain either a primary or a secondary residence in Nebraska, or
- Are an active duty member of the United States Military stationed in Nebraska, or
- Are a student physically attending college in Nebraska within a time period four-months prior to the event, or
- Are a graduate of a Nebraska high school attending an out-of-state college.
If the above criteria are in question, the NWAGA Tournament Committee shall render any final decision.
Amateur Status: All players must conform to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status as specified in the USGA Rules of Golf.
Field Size: Field is limited to 108 participants. A player may enter as an individual but must have a partner to participate in the eclectic event.
Entry Fee: Entry fee of ($150/individual or $300/team) must be paid by every player/team. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if NWAGA is notified (402-505-4653, x103) before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded in the event of injury or illness, if requested no later than August 5. No refund for any reason after August 5. A $25 service charge will be deducted per individual for all refunds.
Entry includes 54-holes of stroke play competition; cart; use of the practice facility; flight and eclectic prizes; and luncheon for all participants following play both Monday and Wednesday.
Entry Period: NWAGA only accepts on-line applications. Entries open at 8 a.m. C.D.T. on Monday, July 2, 2018. Entries must be received by NWAGA no later than 5 p.m. C.D.T. on Monday, July 30, 2018. Late applications are not acceptable and will be automatically rejected. (Entries by telephone, e-mail, or FAX not acceptable.) Time limit for entries means time of receipt at NWAGA (not time entry is sent or transmitted to NWAGA). Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and NWAGA will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry.
Format:
The 49er's Eclectic Event coincides with the Championship and is played over the first 36-holes with a partner, each individual receiving 75% of their course handicap. The Eclectic Event will be two competitors playing as partners, each their own ball (having to hole out on each hole as the overall event is still stroke play). For the first 18-holes, the lower net score of the partners is the team score for that hole. During the second day of competition they can better their score on a hole-by-hole basis to determine an 18-hole overall score for the event.
For instance, on hole one on the first day of competition, players A & B are teammates and both have a net 5, which is their first day score. On the second day of competition on hole one, player A scores a net 3 and player B scores a net 5, their new score on hole one is a 3. If they did not improve on the first day score of a net 5, then the 5 is their score for that hole.
Day 1 - 18-holes, stroke-play, with partner for eclectic event. Teams will be paired in groups of four, with their partner, based on the total combined partner's handicaps. If two teams have identical handicaps, the individual with the lower handicap will receive a lower pairing position. 8 a.m. Shotgun Start.
Day 2 - 18-holes, stroke-play, with partner for eclectic event. Teams will be paired in groups of four, with their partner, based on the team's first day net score. The Medalist will be the participant with the lowest 36-hole round. For the Eclectic Event, one there will be one flight made up of the full field and the top 1/3 of the field will receive prizes. Flights will be composed after the second round of competition. If necessary, one or more participants at the bottom of one flight may be paired with participants in the next flight. 8 a.m. Shotgun Start.
Day 3- 18-holes, stroke play. Individuals will be paired together based on their two-day total gross score. With the exception to the overall Champion, in the event of ties within flights, the prize monies will be combined and divided pro-rata. 8 a.m. Shotgun Start.
Practice Rounds: Available at a time convenient to Woodland Hills Golf Course (402-475-4653). Fee is $40 (including cart) if played Monday through Thursday or after 2 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
