2023 PPLC Player of the Year Point Allocations
The fine print:
-
Point Allocations
-
Modeled on the FedEx Cup: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_point_distributions_of_the_FedEx_Cup
-
Gross places are awarded slightly more points to recognize the achievement - using the FedEx Cup Designated Event point allocation for gross places.
-
Both flights of the Match Play Tournament are awarded higher point totals, given the prestige of winning a multi-round tournament.
-
A player is awarded the higher of the points available from their net or gross finish.
-
-
Ties
-
Ties are broken using the USGA's tie breaking procedure:
-
Best score over the last 9 holes
-
Best score over the last 6 holes
-
Best score over the last 3 holes
-
Best score over the last 1 hole
-
-
-
Participation Points
-
Participation points are awarded to all players who do not place.
-
Players who place only earn the points for their finishing position. Third place in a net flight earns 300 points, not 350 points.
-
-
Individual Event Flights
-
The top five gross finishers will be awarded points in all individual events.
-
No more than 20% of each net flight will be awarded points, up to five places.
-
If a flight has 20 players, only four players will be awarded points.
-
-
-
Team Events
-
Each member of the team will split the points. For example, each member of the 1st place net team will earn 250 points.
-
The top 10 teams in each flight will be awarded points.
-
-
Divisions are set by handicap:
-
Championship: under 10.0 index
-
Presidio: 10.0 - 19.9 index
-
Cypress: 20.0 and over index
-
-
The Masters Par 3 tournament and 9 hole mixers will not count toward the Player of the Year competition.
