The Louisiana Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship is a 54 hole event for Louisiana residents 21 years of age or older. Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to August 8, 2025 who is an amateur golfer holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing. Entrants must possess a certified WHS Index of 8.0 or less.

 

**Registration: There will not be local qualifying for the 33rd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship. Exempt Players will have priority registration from April 1, 2025 through April 30, 2025. Beginning on May 1, 2025 registration will be first come first serve for all eligible players including exempt players who did not register between April 1-30. 

 

**New Age & Eligibility Requirements: Entries are open to anyone age 21 and older who is NOT an active member of a college golf team. 

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, July 29, 2025 5:00 PM CDT or until a full field of 156 is reached. 

Entry Fee: $250

Refund Policy: Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before 5:00 PM CST on July 29, 2025. After 5 PM on July 29, 2025 fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor’s statement) reaches LGA office by August 7, 2025. A $50 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. 

Eligibility: Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to August 8, 2025) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2025 club and individual dues must be paid). Entrants must be 21 years of age by midnight, August 8, 2025 and possess a certified WHS Index of 8.0 or less. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

Format of Play: Schedule:

Championship will be over 54 holes (3 days x 18 holes/day).

Friday, August 8/First Round, 18 holes; Saturday, August 9/Second Round, 18 holes (60 lowest scorers and ties will continue play August 10; remainder eliminated after 36 holes).
Sunday, August 10/Final Round, 18 holes.

Lowest scorer for 54 holes will be 2025 Louisiana Mid-Amateur Champion.

 

Course Set-Up/Yardage: 

Practice Privileges:  Practice privileges are extended to participants in Championship at Bayou DeSiard on August 7. Cart fee paid by LGA. Call the golf shop at Bayou DeSiard on or after August 1, 2025 to schedule a practice round. 

Prizes/Playoff: Gift Certificates will be awarded to the top 20 finishers in the Championship. The Mid-Amateur Champion will also receive a Crystal Trophy signifying the 2025 Mid-Amateur Championship. In case of a tie for the Championship, a sudden death playoff will take place immediately upon conclusion of play on Sunday. 

WAGR: As part of their expanding relationship to govern the game globally, the USGA partners with the R&A in compiling and publishing the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). This LGA Championship is a WAGR counting event, and the results will be sent to the R&A in St Andrews, Scotland. A primary purpose of the WAGR is to provide exemptions into USGA and R&A amateur championships for top ranked amateur golfers. The rankings are updated every Wednesday at 12:00 noon, Greenwich Mean Time. Additional information about the WAGR and the current rankings may be found at

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by the current Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.

Qualifying Exemptions are offered to those players that meet all eligibility requirements and are in the following categories: 

 

1.Top 30 and ties from the 2024 LGA Mid-Amateur Championship.

2.LGA Mid-Amateur Champions of the last 10 years (2015-24).

3.LGA Amateur Champions of the last 10 years (2015-24).

4.LGA Senior Amateur Champions of the last three years (2022, 2023, 2024).

5.All Amateur qualifiers to the 2024 U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur, U.S. Senior Open, and U.S. Senior Amateur Championships.
