Information and Local Rules
INFORMATION
All competitors will play from the : TEES
FORMAT: 36-holes, Four-Ball stroke play. Round 1 will be played over two days – Monday and Tuesday. A cut will be made to 36 teams after Round 1 with the number of teams advancing from each day determined by the percentage of teams playing each day. The final number of teams advancing will be determined and announced at the beginning of play on Monday. (The event may be shortened due to extenuating circumstances.).
PLAYOFF: A tie for the Championship will be decided by a playoff on the course immediately following the completion of the final round.
EVACUATION PLAN: In the event play is suspended for a dangerous situation (lightning), players are to return to the Clubhouse. The signal for a suspension due to a dangerous situation is one (1) prolonged horn blast, repeated.
POSTING OF SCORES: The MGA will not be posting scores to GHIN for handicap purposes.
RULES OF PLAY
All play is governed by the Rules of Golf, the
RULE 23 – FOUR-BALL: According to Rule 23.2b(1), hole scores recorded on the team’s Official Digital Scorecard MUST be assigned to the player who made the score. Failure to do so will result in either (a) being forced to take a higher score or (b) DISQUALIFICATION should the score be lower than the person’s correct score for that hole.
Due to the size of the field, it is imperative that players play without delay and groups remain in position with the group ahead of them. The : PACE OF PLAY
PRACTICE ON PUTTING GREEN OF HOLE LAST PLAYED: Prohibited per MGA Rules & Information Sheet. Penalty: General Penalty (2 strokes for each player) applied at the next hole.
OUT OF BOUNDS: Boundaries are defined by white stakes and lines and property fences.
PENALTY AREAS: When stakes and lines are used to mark a penalty area, the stakes identify while the lines define the edge.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR: In addition to areas circled by white lines, the following areas are considered ground under repair:
- All cultivated flower & shrubbery beds – No Play Zones
- Turf nursery right of #15 fairway as defined by stakes - No Play Zone
NO MOW AREAS: Even if circled with red paint, they are part of the GENERAL AREA (and not penalty areas).
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS: The following are immovable obstructions:
- Un-circled worn areas adjacent to or at the end of cart paths are treated as part of the cart path,
- Landscaped areas adjacent to or completely encircled by cart paths are treated as part of the path, and
- Stone pavers adjacent to a cart path are treated as part of the path.
