2-Person Golf Scramble Rules (USGA rules govern)
1. Teams:
- Each team consists of 2 players.
2. Format:
- Both players tee off on each hole.
- The team selects the best shot from the two.
- Both players then hit their next shot from that spot.
- This process continues until the ball is holed.
3. Lie of the Ball:
- Once the best shot is selected:
- Fairway: Place your ball within one club length of the selected shot, no closer to the hole.
- Rough, Sand, or Penalty Area: Place your ball within one club length of the selected shot, maintaining the same condition (i.e., if the selected shot is in the rough, the ball must stay in the rough).
- On the Green: Place your ball within 6 inches of the selected shot, no closer to the hole.
- Out of Bounds: Cannot be played from, stroke and distance penalty.
4. Scoring:
- Record the team’s gross score for each hole.
- All scoring will be handled using the Golf Genius application. If you have not done so yet, please download the app on your smart phone beforehand.
- The tournament committee will apply any necessary handicap adjustments.
- Max score of net double bogey is in effect.
5. Pace of Play:
- Play ready golf and keep pace with the group ahead. Expected time per round is 4.5 hours.
6. Tie Breaker:
- In case of a first-place tie, a playoff will be used. Remaining ties will be broken with a scorecard playoff starting with the lowest handicap hole and progressing backward until the tie is broken.
7. Distance measuring devices:
- Are permitted with slope turned off.
8. Rules Disputes:
- If a rules issue arises, please play a second ball and consult with the tournament director after the round for a decision.
