Notice to Competitors

 

Qualifiers and Playoffs:  The low scorers qualify for the Championship.  In the event of a tie for the final qualifying place or any alternate position, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following the completion of play.

 

ELECTRONIC SCORING:  The official method of scoring will be electronic by use of the Golf Genius Mobile App.  Paper scorecards WILL NOT be provided to players for the purpose of scoring.  Players should review the printed and video educational information posted on the Qualifying webpage to be prepared for this process.  Also, players should make sure their mobile devices are fully charged prior to beginning play and to have charging cables for use between rounds.

USGA Distance Measuring Device PolicyIn Sectional qualifying and the Championship proper, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.  If a player obtains distance information by using a multi-functional device, refer to Appendix IV for additional guidance.

 

USGA Groove Policy – Model Local Rule G-2:  In making a stroke, the player must use clubs that conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Equipment Rules that took effect on 1 January, 2010.

 

There is no penalty under this Local Rule for carrying but not making a stroke with a club which does not conform to these groove and punch mark specifications.

 

PENALTY FOR MAKING A STROKE WITH CLUB IN BREACH OF CONDITION: Disqualification.

 

Exception - Ping EYE 2 Clubs:  Ping EYE 2 irons manufactured prior to 31 March, 1990, with a groove spacing to groove width ratio of 2.3 to 1 are allowed for play under the Rules of Golf even when this Local Rule in in effect.  The player is responsible for proving when the club was manufactured.  If the player cannot do so, the club must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications that took effect on 1 January, 2010.

 

Practice Rounds:  Practice rounds are available on a space-available basis.  The rate is $70 and available after 2 pm on Tuesdays and Thursday-Sunday and before 10:30 am on Wednesdays.  They are limited to players only and may be limited to one per player.  To schedule a practice round, you may reserve a time by calling the Golf Shop (651/770-2366) and identifying yourself as a U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifying contestant.  Please speak with Chad, Ryan or Nick.

 

Practice Range:  The practice range will be open at 6:30 am on the morning of the qualifying.

Pace of Play:  The Pace of Play policy posted on the MGA web site will be in effect and strictly enforced.  You will be expected to play without delay.

 

Lodging Arrangements:  No lodging arrangements have been established for the qualifying.

 

Food and Beverage/Beverages on Course:  Food and beverage service will be available from the Clubhouse.  Bottled water will be available at different locations on the course.

 

Footwear Policy:  As stated on the official entry form, shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (when such metal comes in contact with the surface of the putting green) are prohibited.  Penalty for breach of this condition:  DISQUALIFICATION

 

Dress Code:  Shirts must have collars and jeans are not allowed.  Players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming.  The Committee shall decide whether this requirement has been met.  This policy also applies to caddies.  Players are responsible for the appearance of their caddies.

 

Caddies and Carts:  Indian Hills will not have caddies available.  You may bring your own caddie, carry your own bag, or use a pull/push cart (including motorized) if you wish.  The use of motorized riding carts is prohibited during all phases of the Championship for both player and caddie.  The caddie is expected to adhere to the dress code and act appropriately while at the qualifying site.  You are responsible for the actions of your caddie.
