SCORECARDS, POSTING SCORES AND HANDICAPS

(Revised 8/12/25)

SCORECARDS

All strokes must be counted. A “whiff’ is a stroke. Maximum strokes are 10; record 10X on scorecard and pick up. If a hole in the Game of Day (GoD) is associated with any player’s 10X score, the player is disqualified from any winnings in that GoD.  No mulligans.  The 10 X on the Score card gets recorded in Golf Genius as an X.

All submitted scorecards must contain the following components:

  • Date

  • First and last names of players listed in same order as Golf Genius (GG)

  • Individual hole score

  • Total score

  • Signatures of ALL players

  • Circle chip-in hole and identify

Please do not:

  • Identify pars, birdies, eagles (GG tracks them)

  • Track putts (Use another card)

  • Enter an “X” in GG for a no-show player

Only one (1) scorecard is to be submitted each week. Give your scorecard to Kari Hall after the game. If she is not present, text a picture of the scorecard with the 1st member’s last name in the foursome in the subject line, to Kari Hall at 303-638-5470 and then place the scorecard in the middle drawer of the locker room credenza. The foursome should turn in a legible scorecard and ensure all components are included as identified above. Scorecards that are illegible or lack proper signatures will be disqualified from the GoD.

If added to tee sheet by Pro Shop, player:

  • Keeps own scorecard and has other foursome player attest to score; and

  • Enters score in GHIN and places scorecard in middle drawer of locker room credenza; and

  • Is eligible for GoD $ or Season-Long Tournament Points; and

  • Receives 1 Participation Point

POSTING SCORES

In league play, one player will enter the foursome’s hole-by-hole scores in the GG app. The Handicap Chair will verify and then post your score for you. When posting through the app or the website, you may post by any of these methods:

  • Hole-by hole:  player will post their actual score on each hole and the computer will calculate their maximum strokes. (CGA recommended method).

  • Hole-by-hole with statistics such as putts, fairway hits, etc.

  • Total score for 9 holes or 18 holes, if you are well educated on the new rules of the World Handicap System.

The new World Handicap System will do daily revisions. Our league will use the revision available on the Sunday before play day.

League 7 Rule:  USGA requires under Rule 2.2b, that 9 holes be completed to post scores in GHIN.  Our league has implemented a League “7 Rule” to accommodate two (2) situations:  (1) when the player finishes less than 7 holes; and (2) when the player finishes 7 holes or more, however not 9.  The league rule is as follows:

< 7 Holes

  • NOT included in GoD

  • Player/scorer notes DNF

  • HC will DQ in GG

  • HC will NOT post score to GG or GHIN

  • No Participation Point

>/= 7 Holes

  • Included in GoD

  • HC posts to GG

  • Player/scorer notes DNF

  • HC posts a 10 for holes 8 and/or 9 (or 17 and/or 18)

  • HC will NOT post score to GHIN

  • Participation Point

The exception to the League 7 Rule is a Rainout. The following rule applies in this situation:

Rainout Rules:

  • President announces rainout

  • Participation point is given if:

    • signed up for a game; and

    • did not cancel before the game

Outside the League:  It is your responsibility to post any rounds played outside of the league. Scores should be posted through the GHIN phone app or the website on the date of play by midnight.  The recommendation of the CGA is to use the hole-by-hole method of posting and let the GHIN app adjust the scores for you. You should post every score you play outside of league play dates, unless the following applies:

  • You do not finish the required number of holes for 9 or 18.

  • You are receiving instruction during the round “a playing lesson”.

  • You are playing a ‘game’ with other players in which you do not fully play your own ball.

  • You are ‘practicing’ during the round (i.e. playing multiple shots whether off the tee or anywhere else on the course).

HANDICAP INDEX

  • All players must have a Handicap Index or be working towards one.

  • Players who do not have a Handicap Index will need to play and post scores from six (6), 9-hole rounds or three (3), 18-hole rounds to establish a Handicap Index by June 30.  Should a player not have a handicap by June 30, they will be unable to sign up for any league tee times until a handicap is attained.

  • The USGA has implemented the World Handicap System which will cap the maximum Handicap Index at 54 for all players. The Lone Tree Course Handicap will be capped at 60.7.
