Notice to Competitors
USGA DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICE POLICY: Distance Measuring Devices and GPS apps are permitted in any USGA qualifying and any Amateur only championship event. However, such devices or apps must measure distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 4.3.”
USGA GROOVE POLICY – MODEL LOCAL RULE G-2: In making a stroke, the player must use clubs that conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Equipment Rules that took effect on 1 January, 2010.
There is no penalty under this Local Rule for carrying but not making a stroke with a club which does not conform to these groove and punch mark specifications.
PENALTY FOR MAKING A STROKE WITH CLUB IN BREACH OF CONDITION: Disqualification.
EXCEPTION - PING EYE 2 CLUBS: Ping EYE 2 irons manufactured prior to 31 March, 1990, with a groove spacing to groove width ratio of 2.3 to 1 are allowed for play under the Rules of Golf even when this Local Rule in in effect. The player is responsible for proving when the club was manufactured. If the player cannot do so, the club must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications that took effect on 1 January, 2010.
ELECTRONIC SCORING: The official method of scoring will be electronic by use of the Golf Genius Mobile App. Paper scorecards WILL NOT be provided to players for the purpose of scoring. Players should review the printed and video educational information posted on the Qualifying webpage to be prepared for this process. Also, players should make sure their mobile devices are fully charged prior to beginning play and to have charging cables for use between rounds.

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN – MODEL LOCAL RULE F-5: This Model Local Rule IS NOT in effect for the qualifying.
PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: To schedule a practice round, please contact PGA General Manager Todd Kueppers, Todd@foresthillsgc.com, and identify yourself as a U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifying contestant. Practice rounds are available any time Tuesday-Friday and after 11 am on weekends. The fee for a practice round is $59 (+ cart). Practice rounds are limited to players only and one per player.
PRACTICE RANGE: The practice range will be open at least one hour prior to first starting time (weather permitting).
STARTING TIMES: There will be no change in the starting times established by the Committee other than by decision of the Committee due to weather conditions.
FOOTWEAR POLICY: Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely of partially of metal (when such metal comes in contact with the surface of the putting green) are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Format is 18-holes, stroke play. Players will compete for 2 qualifying places and two alternate positions in the 70th United States Senior Amateur Championship to be played August 23-28 at Oak Hills Country Club, San Antonio, Texas.
PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off, including the holes to be used, will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.
PACE OF PLAY: The Pace of Play Policy posted on the Qualifying webpage will be in effect.
