Schedule of Play/Format:

 

Stroke Play

July 7th & 8th - Stroke Play (18-holes/day)

  • The low 32 players will qualify for Match Play beginning on Wednesday, July 9th. 
  • Any ties for the final match play qualifying place(s) will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff, if needed on July 8th. 

 

Match Play

July 9th - Round of 32 (AM) and Round of 16 (PM).

July 10th - Quarterfinals (AM) and Semifinals (PM).

July 11th - Finals (36-holes)

 

Rules of Play: The 2023 Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the Mass Golf Hard Card. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the Championship sites. It is the individual player’s responsibility to know the Terms of the Competition.

 

Policies & Procedures: Please refer to the Mass Golf Policies & Procedures page.

 

Golf Carts, Caddies and Pull Carts: Players may use caddies and/or pull/push carts during the Championship Proper. The use of automotive transportation is NOT permitted.

 

Starting Times: Can be found HERE. Please make sure to be at your starting tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time to ensure that all proper instructions are received from the starter.

 

Practice Areas: All practice areas will be open and available at 6:30am each day.

 

Tees/Approximate Yardage: The championship will be played at approx. 7,000 yards (black/red tees), par 72.

 

Food & Beverage: Will be available for purchase throughout the event in the clubhouse - CREDIT CARD ONLY.

  • Monday, July 7th
    • A Mass Golf sponsored lunch will be provided to all competitors from 11:00am-3:00pm.
  • Tuesday, July 8th
    • A la carte lunch menu will be available at the players expense from 11:00am-4:00pm.
  • Wednesday, July 9 - Friday, July 11th
    • Mass Golf will provide lunch for all competitors and caddies throughout match play.
  • Additional F&B details:
    • Breakfast service will be available each day.
    • Bar service will be available each day.
    • Dinner service is available Tue-Thur from 5:00pm-9:00pm.

 

Locker Room: The locker room facilities will be open/available for all competitors; no individual locker space will be available.

 

Prizes: The Massachusetts Cup will be presented to the Champion. The Harry B. McCracken, Jr. medal will be awarded to the stroke play medalist(s). Merchandise certificates will be awarded to the 32 match play qualifiers and are only redeemable at the host site. 

 

U.S. Amateur Exemption: This year’s Mass Golf Amateur Champion will receive an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship - The Olympic Club - August 11-17, (if eligible). All semifinalists in 2025 will be exempt through U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying in 2026.
