Player Information Sheet

 

Format: 36 Holes, Stroke Play (18 holes per day). For Round 2, the low 70 scorers and ties will continue play on September 30th. Starting times for Round 2 on September 30th (8:00am 1st tee only start) will be based on Round 1 scores and can be found at www.massgolf.org  

 

Rules of Play: The 2023 Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the Mass Golf Hard Card. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the championship site. It is the individual player’s responsibility to know the Terms of the Competition.

Golf Carts, Caddies & Push Carts: The use of automotive transportation (golf carts) is permitted. Carts are included in the Championship entry fee and will be staged with the player's name. GOLF CARTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CART STAGING AREA. The use of caddies, push & pull carts is also permitted.

 

Note: No more than 2 carts will be permitted per starting time regardless of the number of players and/or caddies in a group.

 

For players with a Round 1 afternoon tee time, your golf cart might not be ready when you arrive. You will receive a golf cart when one becomes available.

 

Starting Times: Round 1 will begin at 8:00am & 12:15pm, in groups of 3, at 10-minute intervals, off the 1st and 9th tees. Please make sure to be at your starting tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time to ensure that all proper instructions are received from the starter.

 

Practice Round Information:

Dates & Times:

  • Worcester Country Club: Can only book tee times 5 days in advance
    • Sunday, September 7 after 3:00pm
    • Monday September 8 after 2:30pm
    • Monday September 15 after 2:30pm
    • Wednesday, September 17 before 10am
    • Wednesday, September 24 before 10am

Notes

  • Please call (508 - 853 - 5087) the Worcester Country Club Golf Shop in order to schedule a practice round.
    • No walk-up times will be available.
  • There will be a MANDATORY cart/trail fee of $70 per player for a practice round – CASH OR CHECK OR RECIPROCAL
    • Check must be made out to Worcester Country Club
  • Competitors will be limited to one practice round and may be paired up with other Senior Amateur Championship competitors.
  • Only one ball may be played per competitor during their practice round.
  • Practice rounds are players only – no outside caddies are allowed.
  • For competitors unable to take advantage of a practice round date or wanting to preview the course just ahead of the championship, competitors/caddies may WALK (no clubs) the course on Sunday, September 28th after 5:00pm.
    • The practice putting green will be available for competitors after 5:00pm on Sunday, September 28th. The practice range/short game area will be unavailable on Sunday, September 28th.

 

Championship Yardages

  • For the 2025 Senior Amateur Championship – we will be using the 1925 U.S. Open yardages that was held at Worcester Country Club.

Player Luncheon & Food and Beverage: Mass Golf will be providing a complimentary luncheon on September 29th for all competitors between the hours of 11:00am-3:30pm. Additional food & beverage services will be available in the clubhouse (credit card/reciprocal accepted) starting at 11:00am. On September 30th for Round 2, lunch is on the players in the clubhouse (credit card/reciprocal accepted). Complementary coffee only will be available 

 

Club Facilities:  The driving range will be available at 7:00am. SHUTTLE RIDES will be available to and from the driving range from the cart staging area. GOLF CARTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CART STAGING AREA.

 

Prizes: The Frederick J. Wright Memorial Trophy will be presented to the Champion. Merchandise certificates will be awarded and are only redeemable at the host site.

 

Score Posting: All scores from individual stroke play events (qualifiers & championships proper) will be automatically posted to a player’s Mass Golf/USGA Handicap Index by the Mass Golf staff.
