History of the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball: This annual team event was introduced in 1982 in honor of Dolly Sullivan, who was the niece of American golf legend Francis Ouimet. Sullivan served as golf coach at nearby Milton Academy for 32 years.
Format:
- 18 holes of Best Ball of four stroke play
- Teams play their own ball on each hole
- At the end of each hole the four-person team writes down the best person’s gross score on that hole
- Gross and Net Divisions
Teams play one 18-hole round during one of the two days
Handicaps: All golfers will play to 75% of their Course Handicap™ as of July 9, 2025. Players will be limited to a 36 Playing Handicap™.
Tees: Mass Golf Red Tees from ~4,949 yards.
Tee Times: Morning shotguns will go off at 8:30 a.m. The afternoon shotgun will go off at 1:45 p.m.
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.
Practice Areas: The driving range and putting green will be accessible before play beginning at 7:30 a.m. (the driving range is located through the parking lot and the putting green is located across the road by the first tee).
Pace of Play: Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.
Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and the unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the Mass Golf table located in the ballroom inside the clubhouse. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.
Awards: All ties will be decided by a matching of cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Gift cards (gross & net places) will be given out and must be redeemed at Olde Scotland Links.
Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.
Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.
Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.
Bathrooms: On the main floor of the clubhouse (also accessible after hole 11). Additional porta potties between holes 3 & 8 tee box and on hole 13 tee box.
Water and Snacks: The golf course does not have on-course water, please plan accordingly. Mass Golf will put water bottles in the carts at the start of the round. There will be one beverage cart that will be offering snacks and alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages. The clubhouse will also offer snacks and alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages available for players after hole 11 and before the round. Cash and Credit accepted.
Food and Beverage: Coffee will be available for both morning shotguns and food will be available for purchase starting at 7:15 a.m. A buffet style lunch will be served in the clubhouse ballroom beginning at 11:30 (available for 2 hours) for the afternoon shotgun and for the morning shotgun following their round. Alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages are available for purchase in the clubhouse bar starting at 7:15 a.m. Cash and Credit Cards are accepted.
Additional Information: Practice rounds are available starting Thursday, July 10th through Sunday, July 27th. The weekday (Monday through Thursday) rate is $30 including a cart on a space available basis. The weekend rate (Friday through Sunday) is $40 after 3:00 p.m. only on a space available basis. Tee times must be made by calling the Pro Shop directly at (508)-279-3344 and provide your name.
