2025 BDGA Boys' & Girls' Junior Stroke Play Championship

Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to all junior golfers (boys and girls) within the BDGA region who are 18 years old or younger as of July 30, 2025.

  • Membership: All players must have an active USGA Handicap Index at a BDGA Member Club or reside within the BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through the NYSGA eClub of Western New York (Free for Juniors). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $55. This includes green fees, lunch and prizes.
  • Entry Fee: $0. Entry fees for junior girls entering the 2025 BDGA Junior Stroke Play are covered by the Diane Fermoile-McAvoy fund. 
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Friday, July 25, 2025). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy:

    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

 

FORMAT

The format is 36 holes at stroke play, except for the Girls' Sub-Junior Division who will play two 9-hole rounds (18 holes total).

 

DIVISIONS

There are four divisions:

  • Boys' Junior Division (ages 15-18) - Blue Tees (~6400yds)
  • Boys' Sub-Junior Division (ages 14 & Under) - White Tees (~5900yds)
  • Girls' Junior Division (ages 15-18) - Green Tees (~5400yds)
  • Girls' Sub-Junior Division (ages 14 & under) - Green Tees (~2500yds)

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

TIES

If there is a tie for the winner in any division, a sudden-death will be used unless it is impossible due to darkness or course unavailability. Otherwise, ties will be broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards, which compares the last nine holes (10-18), then last six holes (13-18), last three holes (16-18), and last hole (18)

Wednesday, July 30 // Round 1 // Start Time 8:00am - 10:30am

Thursday, July 31 // Round 2 // Start Time 8:00am - 10:30am

 

CADDIES

The use of caddies is permitted given the caddie is not the child's parent or guardian.

 

PLAYER LUNCH

Boxed lunch will be available both days.

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The BDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Friday, July 25th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

RANKINGS

The 2025 BDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship is ranked by  Junior Golf Scoreboard & Team New York. 

 

                                                           

 

EXEMPTIONS
The winner and runner-up of the Boys 18U Division will be exempt into the 2026 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship.
