History of the LaBonte Four-Ball: The “Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament originated in 1950. In February of 1972 it officially became the “The Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament. Miss LaBonte served as Executive Secretary for over 25 years and was Handicap Chairperson for 33 years. In 2020 the event officially became the “LaBonte Four-Ball Tournament”. Last year’s 2024 gross winners were Lani DeBonis & Amy Miller .

 

Format:

  • 18 holes of Four-Ball stroke play (commonly known as two-person Best-Ball)
  • Each player plays her own ball and the side’s score for a hole is the lower gross score of the two partners
  • Gross and Net Divisions

 

Handicaps: All golfers will play to 85% of their Course Handicap™ as of the entry close date. Players will be limited to a 36 Playing Handicap™.

 

Tees: Women will be playing from Mass Golf Red Tees from ~ 5,361yards

          

Starting Times: THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED TO A 10:00 AM SHOTGUN START (As of 10/20/25) 9:00 a.m. Shotgun Start

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.

 

Practice Areas: The driving range, chipping area and putting green will be accessible before play beginning at 8:30 a.m.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.

 

AwardsTrophy engraved with names of gross winners. All ties will be decided by a matching of cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize Certificates (gross & net places) will be given out and must be redeemed at Allendale Country Club. 

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of GolfLocal Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.

 

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms located inside the clubhouse, on course in the maintenance building near holes 7, 8, & 16.

 

Water: Refillable water coolers will be available on holes 4, 7, 12, and 14.

 

Food and Beverage: The beverage cart will be available starting at 12:00 PM. A boxed lunch will provided during play at 12:00 PM near the pro-shop. The clubhouse bar will also be open following the round, with CASH/CREDIT CARD accepted.

Lunch will include: Sandwich options of turkey, roast beef, and ham, all with cheese, lettuce and tomato with a bag of chips. 

 

Additional Information: Practice round are available on October 14th, 15th, or 16th on a space available basis. Please call the golf shop at 508-992-8682 to book. The cost per round is $60.00 including a cart.
