2025 BDGA PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

 

The BDGA awards a player of the year for four categories Men's, Junior, 14u Junior, Senior. The player of the year will be the individual who leads the respective points list at the conclusion of the season.

 

 

The collection of BDGA Golf Player of the Year Awards recognizes the best amateur golfers each season. Competitors compete in various events at the regional, state and national levels to earn points in their respective division. Hundreds of BDGA amateur golfers compete throughout the season looking to achieve top finishes. Finishing at the top spot cements their name in history alongside some of the best amateur golfers in the region, and earning the much-deserved Player of the Year distinction.

 

 

Williamson Cup: The BDGA is a proud participant in the WIlliamson Cup, an annual junior golf event for top amateur juniors in the northeast region. Juniors battle for a spot on the team based on there performance in counting events. The team will consist of the top 4 overall point leaders from the Williamson Cup Points List. These individuals will travel to compete against other regional associations in a 36 hole team event. The leader in WIlliamson Cup points will be the BDGA Junior Player of the Year.

 

Porter Cup: The Porter Cup is a yearly invitational hosted by Niagara Falls CC. The point leaders for the Mens' and Senior division will receive an invitation to the following years Porter Cup.

 

OTHER GUIDELINES

 

In order to earn BDGA Player of the Year points, a player must be a member of an BDGA member club. prior to the start of the points-eligible competition. A competition starts on the first day the player competes in either qualifying or the championship itself. Membership is defined as having an active USGA GHIN Handicap at a BDGA Member Club, or reside in BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through NYSGA eClub of Western New York (Residency Required). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.

 

It is the responsibility of each player to notify the BDGA of top finishes in any USGA qualifier  outside of the Upstate/Western New York  area within a practical time period upon completion of the event. This can be done so by emailing Jack Corcoran (jcorcoran@nysga.org).
