QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the portal by using the Golf Genius app on your mobile device. To access the portal using the mobile app, login using GGID: USOPEN-WALLA25

 

QUALIFYING YARDAGE: Follow the link for hole-by-hole yardages. The course will play 7,305 yards, par-72.

 

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round. Hosted practice rounds for all contestants will be available on Sunday, June 1 after 1:00 p.m. All players must call the Wine Valley GC golf shop at (509) 525-4653 to schedule. Hosted practice rounds cannot be booked online. Players who choose to ride in a cart during the practice round may be required to share with another play due to limited cart availability.

 

Additional non-hosted practice rounds will be available for players on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 at the Wine Valley local area-resident rates. Players who wish to use the driving range on those days may do so at a rate of $20 per hour. All non-hosted practice rounds must be scheduled by phone through the Wine Valley GC golf shop.

 

All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the Wine Valley GC staff.  

 

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 36 holes. The field of 41 contestants will compete for (TBD) qualifying places and two (2) alternate positions into the 125th U.S. Open to be played at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA on June 12-15, 2025.

 

The number of qualifying positions will be announced on Monday, June 2 prior to round one.

 

STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington Golf website (wagolf.org) and on the Qualifying Portal. Starting times will be off the #1 and #10 tees from 7:00 a.m. – 8:06 a.m. and from 12:45 p.m. – 1:51 p.m.

 

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or for the order of alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternates if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off and start time will be made via text message and email.

 

ONLINE SCORING: A walking scorer will be with each group to provide hole-by-hole live scoring during the second round. Scores will be available on the qualifying portal and by using the Golf Genius app with GGID: USOPEN-WALLA25

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Practice facilities will be open from 6:00 a.m. until the completion of play. Range balls will be hosted on the driving range.  

 

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted. Host club caddies will not be available. All caddies will be required to wear a bib distributed on the first tee.

CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a round unless authorized by the Committee.   

 

SPECTATOR CARTS: Spectator carts will not be permitted.    

 

PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted. Host club pull carts are not available. Players may provide their own pull cart.

 

GOLF SHOP: The golf shop will be open at 5:30 a.m. and will remain open throughout the duration of play.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED: All major credit cards and cash.

 

LOCKER ROOM: Wine Valley Golf Club does not have a locker room available for player use. Restrooms are located at the golf shop.

 

FOOD SERVICE: The clubhouse restaurant will be open at 6:00 a.m. for food and beverage service. Grab and go items will be available along with snacks and drinks.

 

DMDS: During both Local and Final Qualifying rounds, the use of electronic distance measuring devices to measure distance is allowed (subject to certain requirements). However, during the Championship Proper, the Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect and prohibits the use of electronic distance measuring devices. UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF DMDs

 

PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that players must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by committee. PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES

 

EVACUATION PLAN: In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their appropriate starting tee. 

  

CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships. 

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Players, caddies and spectators must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing. Shorts are permitted.

 

DRIVERS/GOLF BALLS: The Local Rule for Conforming Driver Heads is in effect, See Model Local Rule G-1. The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.

 

GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010. See Model Local Rule G-2. UNDERSTANDING THE GROOVES LOCAL RULE

 

AWARD CEREMONY: Silver medal will be awarded to the lowest scorer and lowest amateur scorer (if not lowest scorer).
