QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the qualifying portal by using the Golf Genius app on your mobile device. To access the page, login using the GGID: USAM-UP25
QUALIFYING YARDAGE: 7,276 yards, par-71. Qualifying yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions.
FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 18 holes. The field of 45 players will compete for a to be determined number of qualifying spots* and two (2) alternate positions that will advance into Final Stage Qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Championship to be played at The Olympic Club (Lake Course) in San Francisco, California on August 11 – 17, 2025.
*The number of qualifying spots will be announced no later than Sunday, July 27
PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round prior to the qualifier. Practice Rounds will be available for all contestants between 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29. All contestants must call the Chambers Bay golf shop at (253) 460-4653 ext. 5 to make arrangements and must NOT book practice rounds online. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the Chambers Bay golf shop.
STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington Golf website (wagolf.org) and on the qualifying portal. Online scoring will also be available on the website and portal during qualifying. Starting times will be from 7:00 a.m. – 9:34 a.m.
PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or for the order of alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternates if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off and start time will be made via text message and email.
GOLF SHOP: The golf shop will be open at 5:30 a.m.
FOOD SERVICE: Food service will be available at the Turnstand beginning at 6:30 a.m. The Turnstand specializes in breakfast sandwiches and has grab and go snacks and drinks available as well. The snack bar located on the golf course will open at 10:00 a.m. and players will have access at multiple times throughout the round. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play.
METHODS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED: Chambers Bay accepts all major credit cards, cash and Apple Pay.
LOCKER ROOM: The host club does NOT have a locker room. Restrooms are available inside the clubhouse and at the Turnstand.
PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Range balls will be hosted on both the lower and upper practice ranges beginning at 6:00 a.m. Players are encouraged to park down below near the lower range. Shuttle service will be available from the lower range to the first tee beginning at 6:30 a.m.
CADDIES: Caddies are permitted. Players may provide their own caddie. Host club caddies are available at Chambers Bay. Players may call caddie services at (253) 345-1850 to make arrangements at least 48 hours in advance of the qualifier. Caddie fees are to be paid directly to caddies in cash following the round at a rate of $100 plus gratuity.
PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted. Complimentary host club pull carts are available on a first come first serve basis. Players may provide their own pull cart.
CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee.
SPECTATOR CARTS: Chambers Bay will not have spectator carts available regardless of ADA status. Chambers Bay player assistant staff will provide periodic transportation to viewing locations on the golf course for spectators in need of assistance. Transportation will not be provided on a shot by shot or hole by hole basis. Spectators in need of assistance should contact Chambers Bay directly at least 24 hours in advance to make arrangements.
FOOTWEAR: Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player must not wear shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, of any design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course). Penalty for breach of this Local Rule: See Rule 4.3.
DRIVERS/GOLF BALLS: The Local Rule for Conforming Driver Heads is in effect, See Model Local Rule G-1. The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.
GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010. See Model Local Rule G-2. UNDERSTANDING THE GROOVES LOCAL RULE
DMDS: The use of distance-measuring devices (DMD) to measure distance only (Rule 4.3) is permitted. UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF DMDs
PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that players must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES
EVACUATION PLAN: In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee. The evacuation plan will be emailed to players the day prior to the qualifier and will available on the starting tee.
CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.
AWARD CEREMONY: A Silver Medal will be awarded to the lowest scorer.
