FORMAT

  • This is a match play competition, with an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round to determine the top-7 players, who will advance to the match play portion of the event.
  • All play will be from the blue tees.
  • The Top-7 players will be seeded 2 through 8 on the basis of scoring, using the USGA method of matching scorecards to determine seeding for players within the Top 7 who have matching scores.
  • Last year's TCGA Match Play Champion is exempt from the qualifying round and will automatically be assigned the #1 seed in the Top 8 bracket, if they are playing in this year's event.
    • Note: Next year the previous champion will NOT automatically be qualified for the match play portion. The TCGA is honoring the exemption stated in the 2024 Terms of Competition, but is removing this perk due to the updated format with the match play field size reduced to 8-players.

The USGA's method of matching scorecards will be used to determine the last qualifying spot(s), and is listed below:

  1. Gross score for last 9 holes (10-18); if still tied then
  2. Gross score for last 6 holes (13-18); if still tied then
  3. Gross score for last 3 holes (16-18); if still tied then
  4. Gross score for 18th hole

For each match play round, matches that are all square at the completion of the match will continue to a sudden death playoff until a winner is determined.

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The TCGA and/or the host course golf professional will be available to provide rulings and answer questions.
