RULES

While the overall goal of the league is to bring us all together to have fun, there are some rules that must be followed to enjoy fair competition in all cases.  This is a gentle(wo)men's game and as such we hope that you each play honestly and hold yourself accountable to follow the USGA rules of golf with the following supplemental rules.

1)      Tees - tees will be assigned and announced prior to play.  If you play from a tee box closer up, you will be disqualified for that round.

2)      Scoring - be mindful of selective scorekeeping and the "hand wedge".  Count all strokes and be honest with yourself and your fellow competitors.  If your ball is unplayable follow USGA guidelines, move the ball to the nearest point of relief (no nearer the hole) and penalize one stroke accordingly.

3)      Tie breakers - in the event there is a tie for first, the winner will be the player with the lowest handicap (so there is incentive to try to lower your handicap) if they have the same handicap we will compare net scores on the lowest handicap hole through the highest handicap hole until a winner is determined.

4)      Mulligans - there are no mulligans, but you are allowed "a breakfast ball" off of the first tee.  That means if you do not use it, you lose it.

5)      Out of bounds - ALL out of bounds will be played as a RED stake, regardless of whether or not the course marks it as a white stake. If a ball is hit out of bounds (white stakes on the course) you must drop and take a penalty from where the ball flew out of bounds. So if your tee shot flies out of bounds, you will be hitting your 3rd shot from where the the ball entered the hazard. Since this is not a professional event, we cannot    go back to the previous point and rehit or it will negatively impact pace of play.

6)      Gimmes - there are NONE under any circumstance. PERIOD. If a player picks up a ball because it would normally be a "gimmie" and they forgot, they can be excused by a majority of his group. This can only be implemented ONCE per round! That being said, this is a long season so lets not take 5 min on every putt, we are the furthest thing from pros. I reserve the right to change this rule if the rounds are too slow.

7)      Scoring -the MAX score on any hole is double the par! This allows for more exciting finishes in a league with few players, and faster play.

8)      Cancellation - if you signed up for an event and fail to cancel by 5:00 PM on the Sunday before you will be docked 25 points and be charged whatever the course charges me.  No shows will be docked 50 points. More IMPORTANTLY if you cost anyone any money please pay them back.

9)      Sign Up for tee times - ASAP, an email will go out weekly.

10)   Scoring - assign one scorekeeper for the group and one person to attest that the score is accurate. This will be done through an app using your phone

11)   Wet Conditions - the commissioner will announce if "lift, clean, and place" is in effect and note that this rule only applies when playing from the fairway of YOUR hole. Balls covered in mud or resting in a bunker, hazard, rough, or incorrect fairway would be played as they lie.

12)   " Sony El-Rashidy Rule" ----Any player can use a different ball to putt provided they are on the green and it is a legitimate ball marking situation.

13)   HAVE FUN and remember that the most important rule is to have a good time.
