Jekyll Island Club Hotel

The world has no shortage of memorable hotels, but your experience as a guest of the Jekyll Island Club promises an entirely unique combination of timeless grace, relaxed grandeur, and warm Southern charm. From the proud elegance of the clubhouse spire to the manicured grounds surrounding the private cottages we promise you nothing short of 130+ years of hospitality, attention to detail, and grand hotel tradition.

"Jekyll Island Club is a full-service, destination resort - a rare pearl on Georgia's Golden Isles.  While our backdrop is historic, our comforts are lush."

History of Jekyll Island

In 1733, General James Oglethorpe named Jekyll Island in honor of Sir Joseph Jekyll, his friend and financier from England.  In the late 1800's, Jekyll Island became an exclusive hunting club for families with names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt, Pulitzer, and Baker.  The once private retreat is now part of The Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District, one of the largest preservation projects in the southeast.  In 1947, the Governor and the Georgia state legislature established Jekyll Island as a State Park.  Today, the island is a special Sanctuary for each of us - and the Jekyll Island Authority is proud to share our island's history.

Oleander Course

Built by Dick Wilson in 1964, with unique doglegs situated 300 yards from the Ocean.

Indian Mound Course

Played through pristine lakes and marshes. Designed by the legendary Joe Lee in 1975, this serene setting is named for the oyster shell midden deposited by Aboriginal tribes hundreds of years age.

Great Dunes Course

An optional third round on Sunday can be arranged on the 9-hole Great Dunes course, designed by Walter Travis, meandering around coastal Georgia's beach, swept with oaks and unique oceanfront landscapes.

Hotel

Jekyll Island has a legacy of entertaining its guest. With ten miles of sun-drenched beaches (all of them different), four award-winning golf courses, and Georgia's only rehabilitation center for endangered sea turtles, there's something for every kind of explorer.

Take a tour through the maritime forest.  Watch the dolphins play while on a guided kayak excursion.  Take a bike ride through the Historic District.

From the early settlers to the millionaires to travelers from around the world, Jekyll Island has fascinated everyone who's ever crossed its barrier shores.
