History of the Men's Team Matches Championship: The Men's Team Matches Championship was first played at Ipswich Country Club on October 21, 2024, with 15 regions represented. Foxborough Country Club won the 2024 Championship.
Format:
- 18 holes of Four-Ball stroke play, gross and net (commonly known as Best-Ball)
- Each team's score will be determined by its aggregate score.
- Partners for each team will be paired by handicap index, low to high.
Handicaps: 85% Playing Handicap™ as of October 9, 2025
Tees: All players will be playing from Mass Golf blue tee markers from ~5,900 yards. Play will be on the Bay/Bog layout - Bay will be the front nine, and Bog will be the back nine.
Starting Time: 11:00 AM Shotgun Start
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.
Practice Areas: The driving range will be open beginning at 9:30 AM.
Pace of Play: Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.
Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.
Awards: The Champion team will receive a framed Mass Golf flag for the club they are representing. All ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with the USGA recommended method.
Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.
Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.
Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.
Bathrooms: Bathrooms are located in the clubhouse and by the 1st tee, 5th tee, 9th green, and 12th tee.
Water and Snacks: Mass Golf will provide bottled water on carts. There is also water located by the 1st and 10th greens.
Food and Beverage: Lunch is included with registration fee. Joe's Grill (located by the 1st tee and 9th green) will also be open for purchase throughout the round.
DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
