Featured CCMGA Rules:

  • Rule of 75:
    • Men’s association members may, in designated events ONLY, utilize forward tees to improve pace of play and their golfing experience.  If a member’s age plus his handicap total 75 or more, he may play his round from the Coal Car tees. USGA Rule 3-5 addresses play from different tees.

Handicaps will be adjusted accordingly.

  • You MUST notify the board if you qualify and will be taking advantage of this rule.
  • Pace of Play Initiative:
    • SHOW UP EARLY!  If you do not make it to the tee box before your foursome is finished teeing off you will be disqualified from the tournament.
    • USGA Rule 5.6 - Players should recognize that their pace of play affects others and they should play promptly throughout the round (such as by preparing in advance for each stroke and moving promptly between strokes and in going to the next tee). A player should make a stroke in no more than 40 seconds (and usually in less time) after the player is able to play without interference or distraction. For stroke play (this rule) would affirmatively allow and encourage players to play out of turn in a safe and responsible way to save time or for convenience.
    • USGA Rule 17 (modified) – Special restrictions when a ball is in a penalty area.  You can now carry your bag into a hazard and place your bag down in the hazard.
    • USGA Rule 18.2 - The time for a ball search (before the ball becomes lost) is reduced from 5 minutes to 3 minutes.
    • CCMGA Slow Play Rule - due to USGA rule changes for 2019 which are meant to simplify the rules and speed up the pace of play, you must finish within 15 minutes of the group in front of you as opposed to the previous rule of 20 minutes.
    • Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) Rules  have changed

Net double bogey will replace equitable stroke control

The maximum hole score for handicap purposes will be limited to net double bogey (par + 2 + any handicap strokes received). For example, a scratch players makes triple bogeys or worse. But for handicap scoring purposes, double bogey is the max.
