Big Canoe Mens Golf Association

MEMBERSHIP:

The BC MGA is open to any male individual over the age of 21 who is a member in good standing with the Big Canoe Property Owners Association.  The POA Covenants define a member in good standing as a property owner (listed on the property title with the county) who is a member of the POA and whose financial accounts with the POA are not in default.   The membership at the start of the 2022 season is approximatley 250.

DUES:

Annual dues are $65, billed to the lot at the beginning of the year.

TOURNAMENTS:

The MGA organizes tournaments roughly once a month from March through November.   The competition schedule also features season-long individual and team match play brackets.  The tournaments are a combination of one and two day events.

Each tournament offers a unique format.   There are two individual events, but the vast majority are either two or four man team competitions.  Sign ups for two man events are by team (select your own partner).  Sign up for four man team events is individual and final teams are formed as ABCD either by blind draw or draft.   For an overview of the formats for each tournament, please click here.

Most events offer payouts in Big Canoe Bucks, but many feature cash pool prize opportunities as well.  Where formats allow, we also strive to pay to both gross and net prizes.   We also offer closest to the hole prizes at all events.

BIG CANOE CUP:

Throughout the year, participation points are given for playing in tournaments.   Members also earn performance points that are roughly equivalent to their tournament winnings.  The sum total of participation and performance points for each individual are used for qualification into the Big Canoe Cup.   In this competition, the top 2 participation point earners and 46 total point earners for the year qualify for the competion.  For more information see the event description under Events.

ADMINISTRATION:

The MGA is run by an executive committee consisting of an elected president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.   The board also includes several advisors appointed by the president, incluing web site, communications and rules volunteers.   Updates are generally sent to the members monthly covering adminstrative issues, financial summaries and other information of interest to the organization.
